Some shots from my last Auto-X.

A friend of mine took those shots while I am in action.

It was a lot of fun, I will attend another one in June. Hopefully, I will have the right tires for track event in next year.

Nice pictures! Looks like you were giving it hell! Well done. My second autocross for the season is coming up this Saturday, and I can't wait.

Have fun. By the way, do you guys experience some under steering in big turns? My front 225 tires won't hold the ground, and some under steer occurred. I was able to correct it by give some breaks.

My 335i pushes like a mad dog....in otherwords..VERY badly. You need to get bigger tires in the front (245s?)..and maybe a rear sway bar upgrade. The car will rotate better then. Also adding a bit of negative camber up front would help as well.

I agreed; I think some 235 or 245 front tires will help. With stock 225/255 setup; it just makes more under steering. How thick is the stock rear sway?

Actually the photo was at the end of the track; I just had to slow down and turn at the same time.

I definitely experience understeer at the autocrosses also. Hey, maybe we should switch the front and rear tires...

Wow that looks crazy fun. Your buddy took some great pictures. Love how the car is sharp and everything else is blurred in a way that says faaassssttt.

Nice pics! If you go to an autocross school, they'll tell you if you are pushing the front end, you're overdriving the corner. Slower in and faster out is always better, and save a lot of tire wear. I know it doesn't feel faster, but it is.

Nice pice! Thanks for sharing.

Since I was on RTF, there was no play on pressures. I gave 33/F and 35/R.

I took the class once, but it was in my GTi VR6. I am planning to go again next month, I will try slow in and fast out. It is hard to do that though, because the group I go likes high speed track. I was at 70MPH before the turn.

I hear you, and I see it a lot. Just remember it's always faster to go from 70 to 30 than it is from 30 to 70. If you get on the brakes hard before the turns, you can accelerate out and be much faster to the next element.

Btw, if your car is a 6sp, I believe you can only go 65mph in 2nd. If you're shifting to 3rd for the extra 5mph, it's not worth it. Shifting to 3rd, and then back to 2nd takes time to do, and upsets the suspension on a tight course. I frequently bounce off the rev limiter for a few seconds at a time during runs, unless it's a fairly tight course.

Still though, really nice to see another SG e90 pounding the cones! Looks like you're having a blast.

I love watching the GTis with the outside rear tire up in the air going around the course. Fun car to watch.

Actually I hit 70 in my 2nd gear. I never thought about it, but a friend who was riding with me pointed out. My VR6 never got up to over 65MPH.

I have been doing this for years, and the VR6 was modified for racing. I got coilovers and LSD on the VR6, but the stock sport 325i handled much better than the VR6. I finally know what I missed.

I will try your advise next time.

Switching the front and rear tires sounds like an interesting idea.....I have a feeling it would completely eliminate the understeer and replace it with mad oversteer.

and yeah ... these cars, in stock form, are set up to push (understeer) like crazy. S4to335's suggestions are all good ones. Also, just try less entry speed and mash the throttle all you want on the way out.
