Not sure what you mean by the upgraded one? Each version is an upgrade of the previous.

If the factory doesn't give you the latest, thn you would get the latest at VPC.

No. If that were the case, they would be updating cars day and night.

Whatever the car gets from the factory, it keeps, unless there is a fatal flaw that would mandate a fix.

If that's the case then it's a shame George W didn't pass through VPC...

There are some things that the VDC can't repair and are labeled as damaged goods. I think they get crushed or something.

Yea, I'm trying to get my dealer to install the latest version on my 5 day old car and they won't do it for free without me having a "problem" with my current version. My "problem" is that my car is brand new and I think it should have the latest version. Apparently BMW sees things differently though.

I hope that's right. Everything worked perfectly on my ED, and I don't want any updates messing anything up.

THREAD HIJACK: Lassaxi - how long did you stay in Europe for? Did you put a bunch of miles on the car? I want to stay for a month, but I'll have to get my own insurance ....I wonder how much that'll cost?

I was there for about 6 days and put about 500 miles on the car. The insurance is free for 14 days (as I'm sure you know), but I don't recall the rates after that. I think it is on the BMW website.

I don't know the answer to that one. As far as I know, you can't tell which version you have just through the iDrive screen (unless you are one of the very perceptive people who can tell the screens apart, which I am not). Also, my car was built in mid-March, so there may be a newer version than was being loaded at the time.
