What type of GPS system do you have?

Ha! 1st post.

Anyway, I'm just curious how many of you Zedders have a GPS in your car. I opted out of the OEM GPS, as it was quite spendy. I ended up buying a Garmin 660 (for 1/3 the cost) and I love it.

So what have you got?

TomTom just seems to get it right in so many ways.. Great interface, fast, beautiful graphics, customizable (custom voices and sounds). The bonus is the newer versions of the tomtom and pretty small and sleek as well

I have both the OEM and a Magellan Roadmate 800. Used the Magellan for months before my 335 arrived. Still use it when I need a POI. great tool.

I also use the tomtom system!!@ I think its great except that for some reason it doesnt show if you are on the North vs South abranch of an interstate, all it tells you that youu are on I-95 for example. Small gripe, but I wish they would fix that

Hmm... mine does show both the N & S bound roads individually. I have a TomTom One - sweet, simple, and accurate!. I didn't need all that extra stuff on the more expensive ones.

Well honestly, just ordered it...got a bluetooth receiver to go with my Dell Axim X51v - and a cradle for the Axim. Earlier had obtained MS Streets and Trips w/ Pocket Streets for the Axim, so had software (tho can't do routing) on a hot deal for $9, so have software. May upgrade later to TomTom6 if I see myself using it. Nice thing about the Axim is that I can also play music, audio books, or movies through the DICE unit if I want or don't have the Ipod with me. Should get it Mon or Tues and will see how it works out on a trip I take Wed.

The most inexpensive way to get GPS is to get a used Palm from ebay (about 80-120$), get a wired altina gps receiver (for about $35-55) and the get Tomtom for free from the internet.

I've got a Magellan which works well, but overall I think Garmin makes the best product. My dad has one and it's much more user friendly & has more POI's.

I use Telenav on my Blackberry 8800. It sucks. Likes to take me round the long way on things. I had the same issue with the TomTom I used.

Yal, get yourself a Garmin! TomTom's use teleatlas for its navigation software which is better for Europe. Garmin & Magellan use NavTeq which is better for North America. You'll love it!

I have the factory NAV. It can be quirky at times, but it'll get you to where you wanna go if you're in unfamiliar territory. On one occasion, the vector was off by about 30 or 40 feet which made it look like we were off-roading parallel to the main road at the 400 ft and 800 ft settings, but I made two menu changes and went back to the original setting and it worked fine (no key cycle to clear whatever it was that was whacky).

It's just a handheld unit. Actually used it for the first time while driving last weekend. I need to buy the map pack for it tho...it just has major interstates which can be annoying.

OEM pop up sat/nav, it's awesome.
I passed up a lot of cars without it and I'm glad I did.
It's a lot more than nav, it's a complete car computer really; it gives me a lot of trip information and stuff.
I've down-loaded the directory from my Razr phone, so I can scroll thru names and number on the screen or even voice-command the thing to make a hands-free call for me.
And with the Dice unit, it scrolls my music titles, album and artist names from the iPod, too.
