335d brokedown today

I was on my way to the dentist and while pulling out of my driveway i notice a fairly thick line of liquid on the cement. I figured it was just a/c condensation or something like that. I get to a stop light not too far away and when i go to accelerate my traction control activates. I thought "wtf?" Same thing happend and the next light and i noticed my tank went from full to 3/4 of a tank in about 1-2 miles. I pulled over at an apartment complex and saw that there was a lot of gas leaking out of the car. I hadn't turned the car off yet... the gas was slightly burning/smoking a little behind the front axel. BMW road side assistance came and got it. Possible fuel line leak?

Has anyone else had this issue?

Also: When your bmw dealer gives you a loaner do they give you a 328xi? This is the 2nd time i have gotten a loaner and I am kinda mad that they give me a base 328. I would like to have something of comprable power and worth...

I haven't picked up my D, so I can't comment on the issue - and its not what I want to hear!.

On the Loaner thing - it depends on which stealership you go to.

Mine gives me whatever is next in line. Most of the time its base model 128i and 328i cars, but i did get a 2011 328i vert fully loaded last time.

I would call and specify the car you need if it really matters to you.

Good luck on the repair. Let us know what it is.

Sounds like you are WAY too superficial about what car you drive. Its just a loaner, deal with it! And its probably operator error for your leaky car!

how is a gas leak operator error?

I'd prefer something else than their base model car too but meh, it's still a new bmw.

Sorry to hear about your issue. I've had my car for 2 years now (2010 model) and I love it. No major issues so far (knock on wood). I'm sure it's just a fluke. Have stealer fix it. As far as the loaner, I wouldn't worry about it. At least it's another BMW. I have a friend who had her new Mercedes worked on and they gave her a Honda loaner. All I can say is man was she was POed.

Yes, the first time or two my "d" went through its particulate burn off cycle, I got a strong odor of "burned sugar." In fact, one time as I pulled into the driveway the smell was so strong that I thought my house might be on fire. Over time, the burn off process became less stinky. My guess is that the first or second burn off included some cr*p from the factory. I still get the odor from time to time, but it's not that strong or bad.

it makes my entire garage and sometimes the inside of the car smell. it does smell like a chemical smell. I have 12000 miles on the car.

I'd love to have like a 5 series as a loaner though

Leaking fuel line is not "common"

Loaner is a loaner. The SA has a finite number of loaners and they're not free so your going to see a plethora of base 3 series.

The smell is probably the DPF or just soemthng unique to your vehicle.

If you have say a x5m, 7, x6 higher end up model you usually get a nice loaner, never a 3

First person I've heard having this problem.

If you're like me, request a diesel loaner. Most dealerships keep 1 or 2 hiding in the back for those people that want them (and generally, won't pull them out unless asked). Otherwise, do what I do....make a 7AM appointment, get there at 6:30, look at what's available in the line for loaner cars, and pick which one you want. I've gotten a 135i vert, multiple 335i's, and once...just once, an M3.

i know it's not fun, that's why I said they give you a nice loaner, and by that I mean as comparably close to the car you brought in to them, i know my boy got a 535i after bringing an x5m, I guess it wasn't the v8 but not too bad.

The dealer left a voicemail on my phoen yesterday. The issue came from the fuel filter. They had to order one. NOt sure what exactly happened to it. I hope they fill my tank back up...

I had my particulates filter replaced due to some recall and 2 weeks ago my check engine light came on and they said that it was the DEF transfer tank sensor had gone, requiring a whole new tank. The closest part was in Toronto and because it is considered 'Hazardous' material it had to be shipped ground.

2 weeks later and the part arrived yesterday. 328 loaner.
