LUX v5.1 (Pre-LCI)

i installed the lux v5.1 angel eyes on my 330i awhile back but i noticed one headlight is brighter then the other and for some reason the bulb didnt look in place. So i got in there and figured the spacer between the bulb is causing this. So i installed the bulb without the spacer and WOW it looks 10X brighter.

Is there anything wrong with not using the spacer? because now the headlight that was less brighter is now brighter then the other side. lol

You moved the bulb closer to AE collectors so more light is focused into them. AFAIK, with the spacer, the LUX is already pretty close to the collectors but there is a space in between so when you removed the spacer, the heat sink is probably now touching the collector.

Not sure if the LEDs will get hot enough to melt the collectors though... I highly doubt it. As long as it's secured and does not "wiggle", you should be fine.

You really shouldn't have one side brighter than the other nor should it be the spacer's issue. I'm assuming you mean by spacer, the black piece that sits between the Lux and Angel eye. That's meant to sit there to also line up the lux projectors directly through the angel eye.

You should take a look at your install more carefully. When i installed my lux, i by mistake screwed or pushed too hard and i literally moved the angel eye in the headlight further away which created a gap and made one side seem dimmer than the other. Had to literally pull mine back out carefully using some pliers.

Go back into the headlight, maybe with another set of eyes to evaluate the situation. See if the angel eye glass moved inward to mess everything up.
