Tyre Life (Pirelli)

I managed 24k miles on the Pirelli PZeros on the rear. The front tyres look like they have another 20k in them.

In contrast with the other types of tyres, wear was more pronounced on the outside of the tyres, and the left rear was a little more worn than than the right.

The best price I found in the UK for the rear 275/35 R20's was £720 for the pair from cTyres.co.uk including the mobile fitting which took almost two hours!

I've just ordered an Alpine White 530d MSport, due for delivery mid December hopefully.

Have you had any issues problems with yours ?

What is mpg like, do you get anywhere close to the 40+ mpg BM quote ?

I'm getting 35-40mpg on motorways - driving at 60mph would probably help improve that though

Other than front foglight failure which should get fixed under warranty next week it's been prefect. Practical (filling it with furniture cruising across Europe in comfort) as well as rare enough to still turn heads.

X5 is going to replace it with GT as fed up with low 20 mpg.

Depending on how your drive, and where you drive, both the X5 and the GT are big, heavy vehicles...starting and stopping them messes with the fuel economy. While you'd probably get better mileage on the GT, it may or may not be a lot better. The diesel is much better at around-town, since it sips much less fuel during idle, and is better overall.

Hi Noodles

I am at 24.5k on rear Pielli P Zeros and now very close to TWI so I think I will be fitting 2 x 275/35 R20 in next few weeks. Like you, the wear is on the outside on both rears inner edge still has 4mm. Again fronts are hardly worn. Overall I am very pleased as I budgeted for a full set after 18k. Thanks for the heads up on cTyres will shop around and let you know how I do.

Just clocked 24500 miles in mine and average mpg from new is 37.4. I do a mix of driving, typically 3 days a week in and out of central London 45 mile round trip in stop start traffic and a couple of days of long motorway runs to Midlands or beyond typically 250m round trip. Weekends running around locally

thats good mileage out of a set of P zeros
I'm getting a 3litre D GT in 3 week , and will be doing about 20,000 miles in 2 years of ownership , so would be overmoon if i didnt have to buy another set during my ownership
My mrs will be driving it 90% of time , so the tyres should have a easy time

As long as you don't pick up any punctures you should be fine. My rear tyres P zero 275 35 r20 are now down to less than 2mm on the outside edges but still not touched the tyre wear indicators. I will change them w/c 20th February and mileage will be between 28,500 to 29,000

Personally, upsizing 2" over the 'stock' wheels is asking for problems - there's just not much rubber left as a cushion. The slightest bump at speed could require repairs/replacements. Where I live, the roads just don't support that. Yours may, but even if you do get the insurance, it is likely to be inconvenient. They warn about larger wheels in the user's manual for a reason...

The grip with the 'stock' wheels and tires is fine, and I can't see the wheels while I'm driving, so it's not a big deal to me. The ride of the RFTs isn't as good as I'd like, but I knew that going in.
