I would remove it..and reinstall when you get the car back. You dont want them notating on your record that you have modified your car in this manner. I could just see them saying the reason why your fuel pump went was because of the proceded/aa (or whatever). Even though it had nothing to do with the failure. BTW, I use to be a service advisor at a Porsche/Audi dealership.

Most likely they will test drive it, and when they do they will know you did something to your car.
Remove it and be safe.

I use to be a BMW technician and at times the technician won't care what you did to the vehicle performance wise unless there's a connection with a warranty complaint. Now if he wants to be an ass he can note down whatever you did to the car. |

Unless he has a reason to pull off the covers and remove the engine computer cover, he'll never know its in there (assuming you use the bypass plugs). IMO those guys do so many oil changes a day they just want 'tear' through them.

What's the "program update" you are having done?
Why bother going to the dealer for the oil change? You'll spend more time removing the PROcede and putting it back in than you will just changing the oil yourself. Did my oil change on the BMW in about 20 minutes, it's cake! |

i had this same question. I think i'm going to remove it, but the thing is, if i remove it, what about those little black rubber tube things. YOu know the one one you had to unite? (not in the cpu area)... Anyway DAMn i'm going to have to unistall that. And then reinstall... Oh well my oil change isn't untill another 10 thousand miles

i know they do so many oil changes they will most likely over look it. But also their is that thing that connect to ground and if they see it, they will wonder what that is for... Also as stated above, u don't want them blaming engine mods on any future problems if you encounter any.

So much easier to just do your own oil change.

I also keep a log in the maintainence book. There's no rule you HAVE to take your car in to a dealer to change the oil. It's the simplest car to change oil on, you don't even need to jack the car up. I just drive it up on a couple pieces of 2 x 10 pieces of wood to give me a touch more room to reach my arm under the car and remove the drain plug. |

I'm not a lawyer but if I were I'd suggest Shiv include a warning on the interceptor box saying "*** Warning: Installing this device may void your factory warranty". It sounds like he is condoning people remove the device before they go in which as the vendor makes him complicit in fraud. |

It clearly states in the owner's manual that ANY modifications to your car COULD alter or void your car's warranty. It is NOT necessary for vendors of aftermarket parts to state this, when you bought the car and signed the paperwork, you were accepting the FACT that aftermarket modifications could alter or void your warranty. Therefore anything you do or buy is at your own risk! |
