Conversion to paddle shift
Hi all,
has anyone done a retrofit from standard steering wheel and 8-gear automatic to paddle shift? I can not be as simple as to just replacing the steering wheel!? Some kind of wiring should be needed, right? I drive a F07 but it should be similar on F10/11's as F01/02's. Appreciate any input in the matter! Robert Edit I found some posts on this topic and there doesn't seem to be no upgrade possibility. If someone has any other info, please share it with me. This topic is covered in detail for the E60/61 5-series on the "5 Series Forum". I guess the same applies to the F10/11 5-series.
http://forums.5series.net/topic/5505...c-sat-retrofit So basically you will have to change the steering wheel, the Sport Automatic (SAT) shifter complete with ECU, and possibly have to code (program) your car to get some of the functionality of the SAT option. Don't know if it's possible to have the paddle shifters with the standard shifter and ECU. Seems like you have to have the SAT shifter/ECU as well. |

I have asked about this before, to no avail, dealer flat out told me its not economically possible. Basically it will cost more than simply trading your car with one that has it, whatever that means.
