Biggest dissapointment!!!
I have 2 zone auto air condition on my f10, and since i have never seated at the back, i have never realized that ( wait for it) there is no hot air coming from the rear vents at all!!! After recognised, i went to my dealer and they told me \"if you dont buy 4 zone air con, there is no connection at the rear vents with the con. It just blows fresh air neither at 28° nor 18° !!!\"
I dont understand how come a bmw f10 does not have air con system connected to the rear vents. My stupid 1998 toyota corolla even had it !!!( my first car, and loved it RIP) |

Strange, may depend on where the car is sold. But our 520D Touring has plenty of hot air coming out of the vents in the rear seats and we have 2 zone as well.
There is also hot air coming out from the floor in the back as well. 4-zone gives you hot air from the b-poles as well. |

Yes. This discussed has been discussed at length here and at bimmerfest. No hot air fro the rear vents. I just shut mine off so the kids don't freeze. lol! The front vents and the ones on the floor provide enough warm air for the rear passengers.

Actually, it is not about comparing bmw with Toyota. I have never heard any brand which has an option for rear center hot air flow! A prestigious car like F10 should have had it in default.
Even my dealer shocked about this situation, after talking with service manager. They first told me that it is not possible |

This is simply not true, a simple search reveals topics on the matter but this post is very revealing for someone in your position.

I've had this ongoing discussion wtih BMW for some time.
Not only does it not blow hot air, there is VERY low air volume. So in hot weather, the rear of the car is an oven - even with A/C on manual/full blast (you have to control the rear vents from the DRIVER'S vent control, not passenger). BMW removed the B-pillar vents from 2-zone climate cars, which means even less air gets to the rear. Atlanta (GA) BMW tech Erik Luchsinger didn't even know this (removal of vents), resulting in an argument. The best BMW would do is give me US$2000 towards the price of a new 5-series, resulting in a net US$8000 loss had I wanted to move to a car with 4-zone control. Instead I'm looking at an Audi A6 once prices settle. |

A6 blows
So, I have owned both an F10 2-zone and 4-zone and I have never heard any complaints about being uncomfortable temperature wise in the back seat. Are you sure you read the instructions?

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? My car is an ICE BOX in the winter, and an OVEN in the summer. This is exacerbated by the LACK OF B-PILLAR VENTS, and made worse by comfort seats, which restrict any airflow to the back seat. I've had BMW engineers (Erik = USELESS - why doesn't *HE* read the manual before arguing with me) and two dealers look at it. They adjusted the airflow (increased base flow), and it STILL sucks (or more accurately, 'doesn't blow'). Best offer from BMW = $8k loss on my 2011 535i. No thank you. And on the subject of the A6 >>> don't be a biased hater. Every automobile magazine worldwide (research it) has rated it higher than the F10. Every. One. Not to mention that it doesn't have tire bubbling, steering pull, transmission lag, HVAC, iDrive/CIC, or other issues. |

as for anicdotal reliability stories, my 2005 s4 v8/na had zero trouble, while a friends earlier v6/tt was constant trouble. when i piece together all car stories, i worry more about turbos then audi. afaik, we're being pushed away from NA engines for emissions reasons. i hope bmw irons out their turbo issues. supercharcers have not been very common, so it's too early to tell how audi's supercharger lineup will faire. as for the 4-zone. i do think they should unbundle it, or at least double bundle and include it with the cold weather package. i would never buy perforated seats, but i would like to have the 4 zone in my cold-weather equipped car.

I wasnt aware that BMW was having turbo issues ... I never read a review when buying a car. Those reviews are written by people who dont know anything about what I want or expect in car, nor the way I will drive the car or maintain the car. Also, most of those reviewers come to the table with bias and prejudice towards manufacturers or models. My recommendation is to drive a car the way you would drive it each day and determine which is best for you. For me, I have yet to drive an Audi that didnt feel like a cheap pig. My New Years resolution was to be nicer to Audi drivers, I am not doing too well.
