Best detailer in Boston ?

Guys - I've usually done my own detailing on my 335 but I have recently suffered from this plague of catepilars in the trees. Their droppings have actually etched my clearcoat (in one day!) and I'm not feeling up to claying the car on my own.

I know I had heard of a great detailer in Winchester but have long forgotten the name of the place. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Also, anyone have any horror stories of potholes this past season ? I have two tires showing a bulge where I've hit a couple of unavoildable canyons. Hoping I can still drive on them given the strength of the sidewalls.

Dan

The detailer in Winchester is "JD" and his shop is AutoSalonDetailing (http://www.autosalondetailing.com/) His number is 781-771-1500 .
He's been detailing my cars for years and he is one of the best around.
He will also use any product you want (for example Zaino) if you have
specific preferences .
He's a great guy and very busy.

Give Ryan a call. He's a well-known Autopia member, and his work is spectacular. He's in NH, but he's mobile.

Dan,
Although we have never met, my brother and I have been driving by your vast collection of cars for years - as we live by the Bellevue GC.

I am sorry to hear about the catapillar funk in your trees, and also feel your pain as I have had 2 bent oem rims and flat/bubbled 3 tires (replaced by a tire and rim warranty offered from the dealership). The recent construction on the roads nearby isn't helping either

I have a close friend who details cars on weekends VERY professionally. He has been doing it for years. He has done our cars in the past and does a good amount of work for people on the audi-forums. You can see his work at:

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=134552

http://s81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...i%20S4%202001/

he's based out of Brookline, but he has been coming to Melrose to detail our cars for years.. PM me if you are interested.

If that's the guy who did Joe's car, definitely use him..

I'm actually thinking of making an appointment with him one of these days as well. The weather is finally decent..

Vast collection of cars??

Are these cars not mentioned in the profile, or the ones that are mentioned in the profile.

Okay.. Just wanted to make sure there weren't any vintage Ferrari's or anything that I haven't been invited to see.

Thanks guys - having seen Jan's car in person, I'm going to pursue the shop in Winchester. If he can't squeeze me in, I've got plenty of other excellent choices from all of you.

Kev - stop by any time you're driving past. Would love to see the wagon (those wheels look familiar - had them on my SAAB). I should be out washing mine on almost any weekend.

Dan - If I see you outside, I will definitely stop to chat.. I do remember the Saab wagon with the BBS, very nicely put together. Let me know if the Winchester detail doesn't pan out.

SKA - I would email him at oscarfang@hotmail.com and tell him that I (kevin)referred you. He is mobile, but prefers his home turf if possible. If you tell him what kind of shape your car finish is in, he can give you an accurate quote. It will be based on details such as exterior, interior, engine bay, and how bad the finish is etc etc.

His prices have always been very fair, and his work is outstanding. He has detailed everything from Porsches, Audi, BMW, Mercedes etc etc.. Not only does he do an outstanding job, he can be pretty hands on in education with great tips on car care such as washing and waxing, clay bar, pine tar removal, product pros and cons etc etc.

This is what I posted in the Car wash thread a little down.

Quote:
Okay, when I traded in my beloved Jetta, I had it detailed at A-Z Autocenter. I did a complete detail job (about $200) for trade-in eval, and he just did a fantactic job with clay bar, polish, wax ,and interior conditioning. He even cleaned up a section that had an old 'ghetto' dent repair. I have to say that I was VERY impressed with his service, quality of the job, and speed.

The detailing is done at the Brighton shop, and they have full auto repair and body work services, so if you need a little more than detailing, then they can do that as well. They were able to give me realistic estimates on any minor repairs and recommendations on what I needed do for a trade-in.

I liked his service so much that I took the car to him for a basic wash this past weekend - my first wash in the new car. The wash is a HAND wash, with tire dressing and cleaning of door jambs, all for $19!! Hard to beat, even with those crappy automatic 'touchless' for over $20 that don't even touch the tires. Mind you, the car washing is done in the slot behind the shop (you just pull behind the shop). Plus, it was THE BEST hand wash I have had since coming to Boston.

Just ask for Marco, and you can tell him that Arthur with the Blue BMW recommended him (or not, but I will continue to go to him). They do hand wash on Saturdays until about 1 or 2pm.
I just had it washed and waxed the past weekend. Great Job, and they have a new waiting room, so I got work done while I was there.

For those that don't mind driving out to Metro West. My buddy, Matt, has a detailing shop in Framingham on Route 9. It's http://www.luxurydetails.net

He Zaino'ed and Leatherique'ed my E55 and it looked AWESOME.

Decided to take monday and tuesday off. I am going to have Ryan detail the exterior hopefully starting monday morning. Glad he was available on such short notice..

Really looking forward to getting this done well..

That being said, I am off to fully detail the interior and wheels, and turn my garage into a class 100 cleanroom..

Be sure to post up some pics after he's done. I'm sure it'll look amazing.

I did my full interior detail this past weekend. Still haven't found the perfect tool to clean my wheels as well as I'd like. I think I need a small brush, maybe even a toothbrush.
