Any Solution To Fix Yellowing AEs caused by HID

Sorry if this answer has been answered before.

I recently changed the HID bulbs from the HID Angel Eye Kit. I noticed that the tubes used to diffuse the light to both halos have gotten a lot more yellow.

I have read on here that the UV from these bulbs might cause this.

Are there any solutions to fix the current yellowed tubes?

Doubt there is. From my understanding, the UV light causes an irreversible chemical reaction in the plastic, not just on the surface but all the way through.

Of course the logical solution is to pull the light apart and wire up some LEDs behind the rings.

I too am worried about this.

Which is why I decided that in the future, OSS will defintely be the solution.

It does make sense. And I am sure that disassembling the head light unit would be quite painful. I should have gone with LUX or some other LED alternative.

OSS is definitely a good solution. But I'm sure the community would love a more cost effective alternative.

This is why I went from HIDs to LUX.

If someone finds a solution to this problem I'd be all over it.

I think they are ruined. I would switch to a high quality bulb sooner then later.

Define "ruined"

Any recommendations on a "High Quality Bulb" that would not cause this issue?

Those that filter out all UV light like the ones I bought from highperformancebulbs.com. I've been running my HIDs AE for about 2 years with no change in color of the rings.

+1. Once the plastic has started to turn yellow theres nothing you can do. You could either replace the headlight, or attempt to open it and sand off the yellowed areas - but i doubt that would really be possibly anyways

Ouch. Yea however I doubt sanding would work since it really does effect the interior of the plastic as well

(OT: Lux I didn't realize you were from CT?! I grew up in Fairfield County.
