Ashtray Gauge Pod Questions

Hey guys, I've found two ashtray gauge pods for the E9X. One from EAS and another from Turner. Any difference between the two? Opinions?

Second thing is I want to run "electronic" gauge. Not the kind where you run a dang air tube all the way to the gauge. I'm looking at doing Boost, Oil Pressure and EGT. All in a nice needle style gauge. Any recomendations for the gauges?

The Macht Schnell gauge panel is an exact component replacement for your stock BMWs ashtray, comfortable housing three 52mm gauges within and angled for easy viewing. The textured finish allows an OEM feel as if this were offered from your local BMW parts counter. Injection molded from ABS plastic, this panel will resist warping or bending in high-heat applications. The smooth textured finish is a perfect match for your BMWs interior, giving the OEM-like appearance you expect.

The Macht Schnell ashtray gauge panel mounts using the factory ashtray mounting holes with no drilling or gluing necessary.

Features:
- Gauge panel houses three 52mm gauges
- Injection molded ABS plastic construction
- Textured finish to match interior design
- Mounts utilizing factory ashtray mounting locations, no drilling necessary

Here are a couple pictures of them mounted on our shop car.

Do you have gauges available that will fit or do I have to get them elsewhere?

^ What gauges are you showing there... real curious what the center gauge is. I like thier look but not with the lights on. I'm going to try and stick with the orange-ish color to keep it OEM looking.

What's the difference between the two panels you sell? One is $99 and the other is $370..curious about the price difference.

Thanks!

I ran the Macht Schnell gauge pod in my old 335i. Loved it easy to install and simple and clean. I would highly recommend purchasing them. If you are looking for a less wire setup talk to EAS or talk to Victory Road/IND, I purchased there pivot setup from there old 135i. All you had to do was plug it into the OBDII. I will post more pictures of the gauges if you are interested

The 3D Design gauge pod is designed to fit 3 52mm gauges into your BMW. Made from high quality textured ABS plastic, this gauge pod matches the OEM look and feel of the BMW interior. As with all 3D Design products, no time or expense was spared to ensure perfect quality and fitment of this piece. This gauge pod fits into your ashtray without any drilling or modification.

The two are fairly similar.

Do these require extensive tubing or wiring or are they easy to install? I'd be interested in them if they tapped existing sending units.

I'm very interested in a OBDII plug-in setup. Is there one available for the 2007 335i E92?

I had to do some messing around with the OBII plug to get it to work. Give the guys at Victory Road/IND a pm they should be able to help you out

Robert - Thanks for answering my question but does the $99 fit 3-52mm gauges as well? Is it angled towards the driver at all or flat?

Thanks. Just trying to figure out what makes the 3D...3D

OBDII Plug in would not work for EGT's. But it's a nice idea for the rest. So is there a difference between the $100 and 300 bezel?

Where are you seeing $300? The MS panels are only $99.

Edit: Unless you are referring to the 3D design brand, which is strictly a difference between brands.

Those are the only ones I see on their site. Based on that, you're looking at $700 for a complete setup.

Where are those gauges on your site? Based on the link in my previous post, I don't see any orange ones.

These are the Stri gauges pictured, we have since moved to the Stack gauges.

However, any 52mm gauge will fit within the panel.

So go with the $100 pod. I didn't know you could get EGT's from the factory system. That's real nice. I may have to do the OBDII plug in deal. That would be clean.

If I buy the $99 panel:

-Will 3-52mm gauges fit?
-Is the panel angled towards the driver?

Thanks.
