Laguna Seca Blue Vinyl

I know some may frown upon Vinyl, but what has been produced in the past 5 years is beyond phenomenal. Right here a guy vinyl'd his 3 series with oracal gloss azure blue metallic and people did not believe it was vinyl because of how good it looked.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=576302

I like it, but honestly I love laguna seca blue so very much. I am wondering if anyone has yet produced a laguna seca vinyl? I've been searching but could not come across something like that. Maybe some of you have?

And please don't come in here telling me to repaint it 'real' laguna seca blue I specifically asked about the vinyl

Send an email to Oracal vinyl and see if they can make a special order for laguna seca blue. If they can expect to wait 2 months or so.

I'm not trying to change your mind I'm just curious WHY you want to use a wrap instead of paint? Won't it just tear and fade worse than paint? I've always been very curious about these wrap jobs.

I think it's a matter of commitment. You really have to commit to the color when you paint- you're all in at that point.
Also they're great for people who lease and dump as it is easy to remove with little, if any, consequence to the original paint job.
The price is enough to discourage me from doing the whole car though. Crikey.

why do paint when vinyl looks good, costs less, and u can always g back to your original color, or change colors....it also protects factory paint underneath

Repainting a car properly is going to run about $3,000 and will harm the resale value of your car. Vinyl protects the paint underneath, peels off without any damage, and costs about $500 if you do it yourself.

^Exactly

And this is not vinyl, like some bubble gum stickers... it's innovative modern technology employed in the material's design There are of course china deriatives you can get from aliexpress.com but i dont trust them

Thus far 3M has been the top and oracal is pretty bad ass with their choices. They are the two I would trust. There's a few others I'm sure I can't remember now.

I guess there's only one way to find out... and like the one dude above said.

Also my car is built for track although I do drive it on the road in the summer. I am all about function but I also don't wana look like crap and 'modern' vinyl wraps are epic... so no hate.

Considering I have carbon hood and trunk... making roof black... and then rest laguna seca blue, i wont even need as much so it may be less than 500$ even. It's a no brainer to me...

And I'm sure others would be interested. Laguna seca is my all time favourite color. It is frickin beautiful... I know there are others who are fan of the colour and it suits a bimmer so very very well, in fact it suits any car very very well

Go on youtube guys, there's alot of examples although most of the ones online are carbon fiber vinyl and matte vinyl. Not many gloss ones posted, but if you google images you'll find alot, there's a few sites that showcase examples too.

I just wana get the laguna seca blue badly

There were a few different blues SIMILAR to laguna seca but they were too light

The bellow is slightly darker but paint not sure if actually laguna seca.. this is what ideally id wana get. Ill try to contact oracal and use this as an example, maybe we could even have a group buy although id want a sample first:

I don't think you're going to be able to find LSB vinyl. No vinyl I've seen is ever an OEM color. Mind you, some of the ORACAL and 3M vinyls do imitate famous colors, but none are the same.

If you want to do a custom vinyl, I'd bet you're going to need to order (at the bare minimum) one whole roll.

As an example, a full "roll" of di-noc is approximately 164 ft. x 4 ft (approximately 656 sq. ft.). At the wholesale price of around $3 a square foot, that's nearly $2,000 for the vinyl ALONE!

Another example, using ORACAL 970RA (their top of the line non-removable vehicle wrap, a few mils thinner than Di-Noc), a "roll" is sold in sizes of 25 yards [75 ft] or 50 yards [150 ft]. I don't know what the width of a roll is...but you get the idea, it's going to be a lot of $$.

Now mind you, if you could get an almost exact match to LSB from ORACAL, and split the roll up, I'm sure you could find people who want to purchase it here on the forums--it's a beautiful color.

http://www.oracal.com/products/all-c...p?seriesID=237
There's a gallery of all the available finishes of the ORACAL 970RA, and I'm looking at the blues. Now, my monitor is in desperate need of a color calibration, so I might be wrong...but the Azure metallic vinyl looks pretty close to LSB to me! And if that's not the case, then Traffic Blue (a non-metallic vinyl unfortunately) also looks pretty close.

http://multimedia.3m.com/mws/mediawe...PbsQPbPPPPPP--
This is a gallery of all the available 1080 Scotchprint finishes, and the Intense Blue (which I received a sample of, non-metallic) also is pretty close to pictures I've seen of LSB. Blue metallic is a little darker, and probably not quite right, and sky blue is obviously too bright.

I'm looking at the HEXIS catalog of vinyls (http://catalogues.hexisgroup.com/US/) and their policy on custom colors is that it can be done, but you must order a minimum of TEN rolls.
Looking at their HX20000 line, the HX20293B (non-metallic) and HX20300B (also non-metallic) jump out at me as being closest to LSB. The HX20000 is not as good as the HX30000 vinyl, but it is still very good vinyl apparently.

I hope my research can be of service...I'm sending emails to the three companies, asking for samples of these colors. I can them put them on a board, and compare them. Let's hope for the best!

I honestly didn't think anyone else even knew about Hexis - they don't have nearly the presence that 3M and Oracal have in the car enthusiast community. That said, I've used their HX20000 line, and it's a great product. Very nice and helpful salespeople as well.

Yeah, their HX30000 line is truly unique. I'm enamored with some of the "color-shifting" vinyls, and the assortment of matte finishes offered in the 20000 line.

Oh and just a note, this is an "action video" of the azure metallic blue from oracal, looks damn close to LSB to me?
