Can't decide on steering wheel retrim!

My steering wheel has some scuff marks on it (sport, with pearl chrome inserts).

Scuffs are big enough to warrant a repair. However I find the leather on sport steering wheel to be not that good to the touch compared to perforated leather. So I was thinking to re-trim it similar to the M-sport.

Alternative would be to repair it or re-trim with black alcantara.

Which way should I go? I think Alcantara is grippy but I worry that it will completely mismatch my interior. however I plan to change wood to piano black or even trim it to silver, so again, may be it's alright to go alcantara. What would you do?

Here's how interior looks right now:

EDIT: sorry about typos in poll!

Perforated only on the Left and Right Sides. Standard on Top and Bottom. That's consistent with the M-Sport Wheel.

that's my first choice in fact.

Do you think it would be necessary to get the steering wheel insert trim piece too from M-sport

or current one is fine?

If i keep the insert unchanged, it'll look like this:

I do like the alcantara trim idea though:

I could do it with blue stitching or blue centering line to match my exterior.

To make matters trickier, there is also the option of Performance wheel where right and left is alcantara and top and bottom is leather (as here). Does this look best of both worlds? WHat's better to the touch usually, alcantara or leather?

No need for the M-Sport Trim. I actually like the original Sport Trim which for now I have covered in CF Vinyl. The paint was peeling and I had some extra CF vinyl so covered it. I may get some flat black vinyl to recover it later.

I got a quote for 100 USD for wrapping steering wheel (85 EUR). I think I'm going to go with this and get it wrapped in Msport style with perf. leather.

strange noone liks the CRT style all alcantara wheel.

Don't like the feel of it. When real race drivers have them on the wheel, they are wearing gloves and it gives good grip. Not a daily driver feel for me.

you mean just the insert? Yup, I like the M3 insert as well. I'm thinking I might pull the trigger on one if I get the wheel retrimmed too.
The body shop is now offering me the option to do Msport style with tri-stitching or going with stock black stitching, or even just blue stitching to match my Montego Blue outside... Decisions decisions.

basically it's this

over this?

yes thicker than the standard sport wheel. Imagine having the feel of a steering wheel cover over that standard wheel, it's about the same thickness.

My opinion is that you put in M3 trim with blue stitching to match your exterior. I think it ll look great!

thought about blue stitching (or tri stitching for that matter) but not sure yet - my seats don't have the stitching in blue so I'm afraid it won't be good. So most likely will go with black...

I am considering to do my interior trim in Alcantara though (dash inserts), and wheel insert in alcantara as well, searching for pics of how that might look at the moment... Many ideas but can't tie in together yet to have a good looking interior.
