Confidence in 3M/Red Tape for spoiler?
The M3 comes straight out the factory with the spoiler stuck on by the red tape. When you also buy the OEM M3 spoiler from BMW it comes with a pre-cut red tape for you to apply it on also. Therefore It's obvious it's the standard way of putting it on (no drilling holes or screws). Anyway, I guess this question is just for some comfort since I just installed mine earlier today. Is the 3M/Red Tape....going to keep my spoiler intact? I'm just extra paranoid one day it'll lose it's sticky effectiveness or something. Should I be confident with the red tape? I pretty much want my spoiler on permanent. I also figured since the real M3s have their spoiler on by these tape, there is no need for betalink or glue.
I've prepped the surface and washed it and also used alcohol to wipe clean before applying. I'm strictly talking about how well the red tape is in sticking. |

I had to claybar + polish before reapplying the M3 spoiler... and now it's stuck there like cement. |

They say that's it's ok if your weather is kinda stable.
But here in Canada, we go from -30 to 39 degrees Celsius; so I really doubt that the tape would last more then a full year.

I just hope BMW wouldn't supply you with their own red tape when buying the OEM spoiler if it is going to fall off. Like I said the actual M3s use the same kind of tape. And I don't even wax my car lol, so I think I'm fine.

There's a reason BMW uses it. It WORKS!

tape works fine, mine has been on 3 years and feels as tight as the day it was installed.

Would say 50-60 degrees be an acceptable temperature to apply the tape? Has anyone applied the tape in that temperature or say winter/spring season? How is it holding up etc?

are you that damn paranoid?? i even answered your pm in detail about how i installed mine. mine is stuck on for good. if anything, itll probably break if someone tries to take it off without being careful. i even put my friend's m3 spoiler on his car and it was mid 40s AND RAINING (we were in his garage). his is stuck on just as tight. i even used it on a rear windshield spoiler on my old car and that thing was just as stuck. there are a gazillion people here who used just the 3m tape with no problems in all kinds of weather. there are a gazillion more around the world where BMW used it on their own cars to regular non-enthusiasts cars and i doubt any of them had a problem too. put that shit on or just resell it and get over it.
