Help me decide. Falken, nankang, or nexen?

I should be receiving my ICONZ this upcoming week so I think I want to go order my tires today. I know they are not the top notch of tires but my budget is not very high. Which tires would be best? Falken FK-452's, Nankang NSIIs, or Nexen 3000s. Sizes will be 235/35/19 and 265/30/19. Falkens will cost $792.50 mounting and balancing included, Nankang 636.50 mounting and balancing included, and Nexens $611 mounting and balancing included. Just looking for some opinions on which of the 3 I should go with. Any reviews or advice would be appreciated.

Putting those tires on your car is like telling a marathon runner to run in flip flops. I mean from the looks of your sig you obviously put the money into your car for high quality performance parts...why not do the same to transfer that power to the road ?

That being said, if you really don't have the money for a decent set of tires and don't want to wait and save up the extra $300 for a decent set, the Nexens are probably your best choice. I haven't seen Nankangs that much (or in person) or heard much about them - probably a reason. Falkens are crap. I had a set on my Camaro and they were crap, and I've heard numerous crap comments about them (though depending on your driving habits with these, YMMV). Treadwear is garbage on them, as well. Nexens have moderate performance and have decent treadwear, and while I haven't used them, seem to get pretty decent comments from lots of people.

I'm sure there's other people on the board who have more recent experience, but before I joined the Army I was running a Tire Kingdom with my brother for 3 years. If I could recommend some tires that are a bit out of your budget but are fantastic (and I have personal experience on my Trans Am with them), the BFG KDW is going on sale for $217 a tire for a set of your rears on TireRack right now. They are phenomenal tires for performance, get decent treadwear, and look good. They hook very well, even in the rain. That's my 2 cents.

Thank you for your advice. I wasnt totally sure about the quality of any of these tires. Ive trid to do some google research and also on here and it seemed as if the falkens got decent reviews. But since you have personal experience with them, I trust your judgement. And oddly enough I thought the NEXENS were the lowest of the bunch. LOL but I dont know much about tires. I guess I better think about this before I go buying.

Yeah honestly everyone will have something different to say so I wouldn't go just off what I said...but honestly if you're not doing run flats there are tons of reasonably priced options out there.

You are correct. It seems like there are people that love the nexen, nankang and falken. And there are people that hate them. One of the reasons I considered the NEXENS was because a local tire shop in my philly area recommended the nexens and said they have been getting good reviews of them. And for the price I thought it was a good deal. The place is tiregiants.com they said they have the nexens on their BMW 550 and love them. So that kind of swayed me towards going with them. But Im confusing myself now lol If it means anything, the car is a daily driver, never going to be tracked. I occasionally do spirited driving when I get the chance. The other nice thing is the NEXENS come with a road hazard for free. If the tire is damaged or punctured within the first 25% of use, NEXEN will replace the tire. Whether or not this is crap I dont know. But thats what the tire shop told me. But I appreciate your advice and input.

if your looking for a budget set of tires, falkens would be pretty high up there on 1010 tires they have some pretty excellent reviews, nexens 3000 wouldnt be bad for the price but for a stealer i think you should try achilles atr sport comes in great sizes and the prices is easy on the eyes and wallet.

I love the Hankooks on my Audi, will probably get the same if I go non RFTs. Get them from TireRack, installed at Discount Tire who also sells the tire and get their road warranty & road forced balanced. Done.

Hankook ventus was my first choice of tire. I hear good things about them. I did find some decent prices. But still out of my budget right now. I know its not good to skimp on tires. But at this point Im kind of tapped out of money. And being that my car is just a daily driver with some spirited driving and never tracking the car, I cant justify spending the money to buy something like michelins or pirellis. Although NEXEN, and Falken are lower on the list of tires, it seems as if people are still giving good reviews of them. Especially when saving hundreds of dollars.

I have ran Nankang and currently run Falkens on two of my other cars. Falken is much better than Nankang. No review on the Nexxen. I have Sumitomo on BMW, would not go with them again because they are a little noisy. I have run Pirelli's before and had good luck with them. A good alternative to look into is Kuhmo SPT's.

I did see the Achilles str sports and your right they were a great price. I didnt want to hit the total bottom of the barrel though when it comes to tires. I was told by a few people to avoid the Achilles. But there will be people out there that say avoid michelin. Everyone has a complaint about things others think are the "best." But I think I may choose the NEXENS. reason being, they are very affordable, I have read decent reviews about them. And I wont be at the track racing around. So I just dont see the need of spending money I dont have on michelins, pirellis, or anything of that caliber.

Ive heard good things about Kumho also. I saw them for a decent price too. But I found a local shop here in philly that quoted me $611 for the NEXEN 3000s in sizes 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 and that price includes mounting and balancing. It just seems like a great deal to me. Affordable, and NEXEN is giving a road hazard warranty with them which they will replace a tire if its punctured and unrepairable. So I figure why not give them a try?

theres actrully a review on here about the achilles made by an e90 post member for the money that your paying for those tires i would not complain leaves you a bit of flexibility the falken fk452 have great reviews on 1010tires.com also if your willing to go a bit outside your ball park i heard hankook evo v12 are great tires for the money. at the end of the day its your wallet so you have the liberty of making this choice you can make the cheaper set of tires try them out usually dont they have a exchage policy if your not happy with ?

nankang and nexxen tires are a joke. theyre like bottom level tier tires along with the other generic brands like triangle, ironman, etc. yes those are real names for tire companies. lol

The hankook v12 evo was my first choice. Although they are priced pretty nicely they were still a few hundred more then the others I was looking at so thats the only reason I stayed away from them.

I think you can get road hazard warranty added for any brand. It depends on who the installer is - it is their policy they are selling. If you need the warranty and travel quite a bit, go with a company that has more than one location.

Ya I have heard some good reviews and some bad. But for the price they are going for, it just seems like a good deal to me. Overall being that you had them, and for the price, would you say Id be ok running these tires?
