How to convince....?

First post, long time reader. Im only 18, but here's the situation, my dad has a company car (2008 Chrysler Sebring since new, cheapest package) and he get's about 60k miles to each company car he has, and he's at 43K right now, he used to get a gas card for as much gas as he needed for his car, now since his promotion he barely drives as much ands mostly flying now. So when this car reachs about 60K he's thinking about just taking $800 a month for a car instead of a company car. $800 a month towards any car, I want to convince him to get an F30, he knows about the car, likes the looks and MPG figures, and we used to have a 2002 530i sport package, and he understands why everyone likes BMW's. Heres the question, how to convince him to get a 2012 F30. If he's gonna lease or buy, he's only interested in something $0 down. any tips on how to swing him into getting one?

Sounds like someone's gonna be sneaking the car out at 3am.

Tell him your "popularity" among the girls will sky-rocket. And that self esteem is the key to succeeding in life much like dad.

My question is, are you sure you have to convince him?

Step 1: Tell him you are going to dinner.
Step 2: Accidentally end up at the local BMW dealership.
Step 3: Sit his stubborn ass in an F30 for a test drive.
Step 4: PROFIT!

Go to the dealership and convince them that your parents have sent you out to test drive cars because they're buying you one...then take the car home and ask him if he wants to go for a drive.

He probably would qualify for a fleet discount too because of the car allowance.

1. Get him to dealership for test drive
2. See #1. If he's been driving a Sebring since 2008, the car will do the rest....

Depends on options, mileage needed, and the program available when he leases the car (if he leases), but I would figure around $500/month and up for a 328, depending on those specs (maybe even a little less, but that may be pushing it with 0 down and it would probably have to be stripped) If he's not driving a ton of miles, should be easy to cover the payment and gas for the $800 a month he'd get. Mileage is the key, on both the payment and how much he needs to save for gas. Maintenance is free for first 4 years/50k miles, except tires.

My advice... don't convince him. I'm sure he'll make the right decision for himself

They will let you test drive the car but they will go with you. When I was your age my parents were always too busy to go car hunting so I would always go to the dealership myself. Just call ahead and ask to drive it and bring home the numbers. Although, once he's in the car it will sell itself! Good luck :]

My question, is if he is only occasionally driving a car, why not just get a something cheaper. Does he actually take clients out for meals, or is this just to putt around in when he needs to go to the office?

Not knocking your idea, but honestly if its going to sit in the drive way most of the time (since only he can drive it), it more of a pretty ornament, then a must have because it will be used and appreciated.
