Phone and Assist Options Restarts with "-- --"

Can anyone help me diagnose a problem with my e92 non i-Drive? This causes my Bluetooth to drop and reconnect. When I press the Menu button, I see the Phone and Assist icons but after a few seconds, it will restart, causing the icons to disappear as "-- --". It does this in a loop.

Here's what I have tried:
  • Battery pull for 30+ minutes
  • Tried a couple phones by deleting the first pair before re-pairing a new phone
Questions:
  1. Are TCU and ULF modules covered under CPO warranty?
  2. If not, how do I determine if its either the TCU or ULF?
  3. Any other tests I can do?

Digging a little deeper, I got the following codes:

A554
Alive telephone
Error will not cause a warning light
Error is not currently present
Test conditions have been completed

E18D
Wake Up Device tried to wake up network 3-times without success (Error_WakeUp_Failed)
Error will not cause a warning light
Error is not currently present
Test conditions have been completed

E18F
Central registry does not match with debit configuration (Error_Registry_New)
Error will not cause a warning light
Error is not currently present
Test conditions have been completed

Searching "a554 bmw" on Google led me to this:
http://forums.5series.net/topic/4923...-call-failure/

I have a RAD2 vehicle so the possible causes are:
- TCU hardware failure
- MOST-bus communication issue
- Incompatible handset
- 'TCUs can be "deactivated" accidently during a "reactivation" process after a software upgrade'
- Software error in the RAD2 or CCC

I can probably rule out incompatible handset. Anyone know how to "reactivate" a TCU? Thru coding only?

Quick update. I bought a used TCU from a member here. Plugged it in and Bluetooth is now working again without drops. I did not have it coded as I don't use BMW Assist.
