How do I keep fog lights on?
I currently have a pre-lci e90 2008 sedan and was wondering if I could have the fogs turn on when the headlights turn on? I currently want to get HID or LED fog light bulbs to match the LED angel eyes but I have to turn the fogs on manually everytime. Anyone know how to do this or if its possible? Thanks in advance.

FOG lights, as the name implies are for when there is reduced visibility and you need lights down low so you can see the road. They aren't for normal driving and are wired to go OFF when you turn on your High Beams. Don't be a douch and drive with your fogs on all the time. That's just so RICE!

Does it even get foggy in riceland?
I prefer to drive w/fogs and halos as much as I can at night to help prevent a build up of bug residue on the headlights. When the brightness/color matches, it looks great, daytime too.

I don't think that having them on needs to be coded. If you stop and think of the electrical mechanics of the switch cluster, the fogs go on when the headlights are activated. That means the circuit for the fogs are closed when the lights are on and all you need to do is puch the button. I'm sure if you pull the cluster and use a electrical meter and probe around to see which wire is hot and which ones are not, you can figure it out and then place a jumper wire from the hot wire of the headlights to the hot wire of the fogs and bypass the switch all together...

Coding is the best option.. you can even have them turn on when you unlock the car....

Code that bad boy! Code it so all lights are on, even the rear fog lights, go for the glory man!
But really, is it that hard to reach the fog light button? How fat are you trying to get??? LOL! Unless of course you have a prosthetic left hand and lost function of your fingers...then, that's just mean. Last edited by project6; 05-22-2012 at 05:41 PM.. |
