Launch Control?

I haven't been able to get Launch Control to work, and I was wondering if anyone might know what I'm doing wrong.

Last night I went to a very secluded road, no cars, out of the way of everything, obviously to be safe. So, I hit the Sport button, turned traction control off (sport traction/DTC on), shifted down into first gear and slammed on the break. But whenever I tried revving the engine, it wouldn't go past 1,500 RPM. The engine was at a good temperature, fully warmed up.

In the manual, it says that the car will not allow launch control before the break in period. I have about 1480 miles on the car. I thought break in was 1200 miles. Is it actually 1500/1600 according to BMW?

Thanks for any help!

Did you carefully read Page 70 of the manual, specifically where it says push the accelerator pedal "past the resistance point"? If not,

I did press the accelerator all the way down. Hot the little notch/button and it only revved to 1500 rpm. Maybe I didn't hold long enough?

when you put it in Sport / DTC mode, do you shift up to put it in Manual ? You should see M1 and NOT S1.. Press the sports button, then traction button once. You dont have to turn traction off, just press the button once and you'll see "sports traction" on the display. Then hold the brake, press the gas all the way (you will feel you've clicked the button on the floor, keep holding..) it will rev all the way up, you'll see a flag on the display at that point, then let go of the brake and hold on !

Unless BMW changed something in the DCT on board controller the following is the automated launch control.

With DCS On:

Put the car in 1M/M1 driving mode (not 1S/S1)
Press and immediately let go the traction control button (do not hold it down)
Press the Sport button
Hold the brake firmly
Press the gas pedal all the way down to the floor quickly
....your RPMs should jump to 5000 RPMs and see a checker flag
When ready for the horse kick let go of the break and then hold on for dear life

With Traction Control completely OFF:

Put the car into 1S/S1 driving mode
Press the Sport button
Press and HOLD DOWN the traction control button for 5-8 seconds until you see the triangles icon show up in your dash
Hold the break firmly, then press gas pedal to the floor and then release the brake. Don't let up off the gas pedal, the car will roll forward less than a yard then your RPMs will slingshot up and off you go

LC will not work if the car:

Has less than 1200 miles
Is too cold
Is too hot

Proper oil temps should be between 200-240 for LC to work.

I did exactly this. Except the res didn't rise over 1500...
Maybe the engine was too warm. It was right in the middle, 250 I think.

hmm i remember reading somewhere that the car has to be on and driven a certain amount of miles, i believe like 10-15 miles. If it doesn't work i would just give it time. I first tried it at around 3,200 miles and it worked. Its really fun but you can't really use it much on the streets... I mean you CAN,buuuuut you're going to get a lot of attention, its loud lol What part of LA are you in ?

Exclamation

Engine should rev freely but not exceed your selected launch rpm. If it's dragging against the clutch (like yours) you are not in launch mode and will burn your clutch very quickly doing this!

Little holmby hills. Right in the middle of bel-air and Beverly Hills.

I wouldn't be doing LC around there though.

It happened to me twice, LC did not work for no apparent reason.
Engine was not cold or too hot, no back to back run , all required steps taken but still did not work.

It worked fine right after a restart in both cases.
