AFE Induction kit and Turbo smart BOV

I purchased theses from gilbert at ModBargins and they turned up yesterday afternoon, so as I had nothing to do last eveing I thought id shove them in.

Engine is dirty so it needs to be cleaned up but its off to paintshop next week to have the front end etc blown over so i'll do it when i get it back as their also painting some of the plastic engine covers for me.

here is the AFE kit

Air box removed (had to remove the pollen filter and its housing to get to the rear clip in order to get the airbox off). It then pulls up is a bit stiff, others may have bolts holding them in so please check before going mad lol!

Turn the grey clips clockwise to remove the standard BMW items

The turbosmart BOV

To remove the standard BMW pipes you need to turn those clips anti clockwise (i thought they would turn the same way as the other ones but obviously not lol). Fit the new piping, vacum hoses with the supllied new clips

Fit the standard rubber mounts from the BMW air box to the AFE tray

All that is left is to fit the mount for the cones to be screwed into and job done.

Ive left the turbo smart BOV at 50/50 and for now it seems ok. Cant say the mrs has noticed any differance apart from 'ohhh dont they do the filters in red to match the brakes' lol!

Thanks for looking

i only drove it round the block and the induction noise was nice and deep the BOV are nice to not to loud which is great :-) and when in auto you cant hear anything, going into manual then you can hear them a little. I'm happy with the results so far. YOu can start to fine tune the BOV and add the blanking plates which they supply and fitting was easy, taking the airbox out took the longest lol!

Where did you get them from? I was looking at the AFE on an American site the other day. Looks nice and good that it is inclosed.

We need some videos of the sound!!

Thats where I was looking at them. What made you go for that Kit? I was thinking about the stage 2 sealed intake.

i was ordering the BOV and then GIlbert suggested that I get the AFE kit. I had the AFE kit on my mrs x5 e53 4.8 and my e60 545 so I thought why not :-). No probs so far and the kit fitted with no problem.
