Wagner FMIC install

Got this Wagner FMIC a month ago and decided to install it. Almost sent it back as the Mod bug bite is beginning to wear off.

Anyway after reading another post about having a second person to make life easier I got my 5 yr old and a floor jack to help . Can’t imagine doing it without the jack and maybe the 5 yr old. This FMIC did not come with instructions and is not a direct bolt on but its very close. I will elaborate further.

Much bigger and heavier I might add. This is the bar and plate design.
The stock FMIC had quite a bit of oil
Small wonder the intake valves gunk up so quickly. Maybe the OCC works to prevent this.

In place. The hose couplers were able to move up a few mm while the retaining clip was in. Not sure if it’s the same with stock.

Had to put a spacer that’s a litter thicker than the rubber washer supplied. This is to make sure there is clearance between the radiator and condenser and the FMIC. The screws are self-tapping on half on machine thread on the other. The diameter is also smaller but it bites through the top of the plastic boss to hold. I suspect the stock bots will still have threads to hang on. In addition I had to remove the plastic shield below to make clearance.

Any Idea what this does? I this its an insulator between the FMIC and the radiator/condenser hot sections. Not sure which heat exchanger runs hotter though. My guess would be the condenser.

my next turbo

Anyway after install I also deleted the dreaded CDV. Man that bleed nipple will make you cry. One to get to open it and two, its plastic and if you over torque you will be crying.

Will get some logs of the Wagner FMIC. Car felt about the same. (if COBB will get the stage 1 FMIC out of beta ). The stock FMIC peaked at 146 F with a 90 F ambient.

Update:
Did some logging:

Yeah its ok. I'm actually having more fun with the cdv delete. Should have done this the day I picked her up in Munich. A BMW engineer needs to tell me why it's there.

Nice review ... I have the modified CDV that has been sitting in my garage for months. I am approaching 100k though on my stock clutch .. so I am thinking I will just to do this swap once my clutch goes kapoot.
