Would a chip for the 335i work on the ActiveHybrid 3?

Wondering if I could buy a chip to further increase the output on the ActiveHybrid 3 I'm getting. I know it's the same engine as the 335i, but it's apparently tuned to work in sequence with the supplementary 50HP electric motor so I'm wondering if a chip would still work as I'd love to be able to increase the output by 50HP or so. Since the combined HP on the ActiveHybrid 3 is 335HP from the factory, if I could buy a chip that gave me an extra 65HP out of the engine, I would be pushing 400HP!

A 400HP Hybrid... we'd be talkin' then!

I've seen this post unanswered for a while. I think were all rooting for you. I think it's anbodys guess though. Maybe you will get lucky since it is set to work with the auto start-stop. Wy doesn't anyone do a regular boost controller. You can easily and safely get 30hp without needing to change fuel maps and timing. I'm sure on these cars the boost is regulated electronically but I'm sure it can't be that hard. Definitely void the warranty though.

FYI - there have been no "chips" available for engine tuning since the 1990s...it's all done by engine software updates or "piggyback" tuners that alter the engine parameters. There is no way to remove/replace a "chip" on current vehicles - they're all permanently mounted to the circuit boards. Last car that I put an actual chip in was a 1993 Porsche 968; the advent of OBDII regulations pretty much killed off the whole replaceable E-PROM thing.

It should. The Stage1 and JB4 does work but can't speak in certain for other chips.

I had customers who got the Jb on the Active Hybrid and it works without a problem .

Update

After a software upgrade of the car by the dealer
(August 2016 psdzdata 3.59.3) the piggy does not work

Software update should not impact piggys
Log boost and let us know how it looks like.

The new software detect te map-tmap manipulation by the JB stage 1

In the ActiveHybrid 3 my JB and my tmcmotorsport piggy put the DME ecu in the same error after a lot of pull (freeway or trackday) :

"Druck zu Nieder" (error appears only in navi screen, no mil lamps)

After this the car run in "stock" power.

Only with stop-start sequence the car run now with the contribute of the piggy

Before this software update ( 3.57) no problem.

A new logic in order to find tmap manuipulation ?
A conflict with the electric engine in "eboost mode" ?

the fact is that after upgrading my two piggy are detected when strong run

in stock mode no problem

Hope the JB4 doesn't have this issue... It'll stay in stage 1 but wanted a boost controller by rpm.

with e-sys you check the software

But this new software is available from august 2016.

No, I will visit them by end of year for the yearly visit; I guess we will know for sure then. I should find a way to get them to update earlier, so I can check and return the JB4 quickly in case of problem.

I have a jb4 with an active hybrid 3 and just got a cel today after about a week. Jb4 can't read or clear the code. Going to check with carly and see if it shows anything. I definitely have the software update.
