Force Induction: E92 M3 ?

what kind of F/I systems do u think they will make for the new E92 M3 ?

twin-turbo, single turbo, supercharger...?

what kinda system would be the best for the new V8 ?

I think its a bit early to say but i could see a supercharger engineered for the new V8.

if they don't make a supercharger... then majority of the people will not buy Forced Induction

YOU WOULD BE A IDIOT FOR f/i THIS CAR.. IT IS A HIGH COMPRESSION MOTOR! ITS BUILT FOR HIGH REVING NA. TO GO F/I SAFELY YOU WOULD HAVE TO REBUILD THE MOTOR AND THAT WOULD COST YOU WAY TOO MUCH MONEY..

OBVIOUSLY YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT F/I AND WHAT IS A GOOD PLATFORM SO I SUGGEST YOU DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.

THANKS

Look down on your keyboard. Now look all the way to the left side, right under the tab button is the caps lock key. Please hit that for us.

THANKS

PS. I think if they could engineer a turbo set up, that would be awesome, especially with such a high revving engine. Doubt it will happen though.

Not only do you seem to not know any forum (internet in general) ettiquite but you also don't know much about FI. The Audi RS4 motor is fairly close to the new M engine in terms of bore, stroke, displacement, compression, etc. and it has been successfully supercharged. Sure you are always flirting a bit with engine longevity but "safe" is a very relative term.

I suggest you think more about what you know about FI before making such uninformed posts.

I think i might play around with supercharging or possibly turbos after my warranty expires. Ill let others be the guinea pigs first and see which choice is best.

it's a huge engine, it can take a SC. there are drawbacks to both, but when it comes to state taxes, and other fees, and the fact that the turbo setup might experience serious lags you might be better off with the SC.
it's really not a question of which is better, it's a question of preference, IMHO

Turbos have come a long way as well as superchargers. there will practically be zero lag with a modern turbo setup and you wont have to run a large turbo setup due to the fact you will be able to run two medium sized dual ball bearing turbos that spool extremely fast like full boost around 3-5grand. and at a safe 8-9psi I bet you we could easily see anywhere from 550-600rwhp and a nice torque figure around 375-400ft lbs of Tq. these are just my thoughts and opinions. I believe they will be accurate what do you guys think?

All you say is false. The M3 E46 engine is also a high revolving engine and there are plenty of FI systems .Obviously you do not know anything about FI (is it a pic of you in your avatar?) lol no personal attack it was for laugh

Sorry bro...incorrect statement. I am not even going to waste the time to explain forced induction and high compression engines to you.

Twin or Single turbo. The engine would have no problems holding up if the tune was right. We have over there (In OZ) 6ltr V8's with massively high Comp Ratios with there's set=ups. Making huge power, running 10's off stock motors and daily driven off turbo kits.

It all can be down. Its How much Money = Development. Someone will do it out there one day.

Isn't an SC better for tracking since you're not overly concerned with heat soak like you would with the turbo?

The reason SC is better for track driving is consistent linear torque. You dont want to get mid corner and find an extra 100ft/lbs torque when you didnt expect it =)

i prefer superchargers...they are great for adding boost to a car...the power is always there...and they sound cool and scary at the same time...too many ppl have turbo anyways...i like to be different

MTM have made a Supercharger Package for the Rival of M3 the RS4.We are talking about a Normaly Aspirated V8 wich revs at 8.250 and has a Compresion Ratio of 12.5:1( http://www.audiworld.com/news/07/mtm.../content.shtml ) .This kit is producing 535 bhp and 580 Nm of torque.Excuse my scepticism but you were talking about Supercharging high Compresion Ratio engines and if it was Possibile to do in a BMW M3 E92 engine V8 with 12:1 Compression Ratio. My vote is that in the next year we will have a couple of aftermarket Kits wich will supercharge the bimmer to somewere between 540-570 bhp at low boost ( 0.4 Bar-6.5 psi).On the other hand maybe not, this is just my guess......

Anybody know the prices for the MTM kit? I tried to find it, but was unable to. With a price tag we could speculate what it would cost to squeeze 550 hp out of an M3.

Best regards,

CSL
