Who here bought a E90 instead of a IS250/350
Not a thread to compare the two cars but rather to see how many of us actually bought an E90 over the Lexus IS.
I'll start as #1....I was very close to getting an IS250 AWD but the looks and price of the IS made me a BMW owner.

I did. The IS350 was the car I was going to buy. Went and test drove IS350, TL/RL, C350 and then last of all the E90. Went back and tested the IS350 vs E90 again because it was raining the day I went out originally test driving. Made my mine up then that the E90 was the only way to g.

I had deposit on IS250 AWD for a long time. Will never do that again (stupid).
Thankfully the car was freaking small for my height, doesn't have my preferred color combo, cost as much as BMW and drives slower then my 4-cyl Accord. Other then that it is pretty cool sport sedan.

Guilty as charged here also. Test drove the 325 first, then it was a clk430, then a TL, G35 sedan + coupe, the IS250awd.....then once more in the 325i. I hated how the lexus works their option packages. In order to get one option you had to get 4 other options you didn't want, much less need. I didn't like the "floaty" suspension neither.

The OP is asking if anyone here picked the E90 over the IS in particular. Not all of us did right? I didn't, number one because the IS wasn't out when I ordered my E90, and number 2, it's a Lexus man, haha!

I didn't test drive many cars.I have had Japanese cars before. But when I drove 325i it was so I didn't look any where else, it was an excellent car with an excellent brand name

Me. I wanted BMW, not a luxury badged toyota.
I was debating between 525i/G35Coupe/IS350/SLK. 5 Series were too boring, passed on G35/IS350 because I wanted to try german cars for once. SLK was not practical for a everyday driving.

I had thought about IS250 might be a marginal go for. IS350 , no way, I just did not think a IS350 will have any worth resell value.

I saw an SLK in this amazing dark blue the other day,
wow that is the nicest blue you'll ever see. You guys have to check it out if you're ever by a MB dealer.

I test drove a IS350 2wks ago and the only thing I can say the IS350 is better than the 330i is the hp (It is very fast and no doubt faster than the 330i) and interior and the smart key. Other than that, I think 330i beats everything else.

I almost put a $1000 refundable deposit for an IS350....at LONGO LEXUS.
but I bought the E90 after I test drove it the second time........in JULY. I couldn't wait til' October for the IS350......to come out. I gambled...and I won.

I am in the midst of deciding between a 330i and an is350. I test drove the 330i earlier this week, and it handled like a dream I was sure that was the car to get. Today after driving the is, I have to admit, I was very impressed. So hard to decide! I like the look of the bmw better and most of the features, however, the navi in the lexus also appealed to me more that the BMW's IDrive version of it. Oh well, got a few months to sleep on it.

Same here...
My wife and I test drove the IS350 and were really interested in it from what we were hearing. She has had a GS300 for close to 7 years (this would be her new car) and wanted another one... Well when we test drove it we loved the power and the ventalated seats but thought the interior was too plasticy / rubbery and the rear seats were actually smaller than my G35 coupe in the legroom department. We then went to the BMW dealer right afterwards and test drove the 330i... WoW we loved it from the moment we took that first turn... The interior had a simplistic elegance, the handling was spot on, and the styling was great... The back seats were comfortable and the trunk is huge! We got a E90 330i SG - Gray Lthr / ZPP / ZSP / ZCW / Sat Prep / PDC What a great car, I am trying not to get one for myself until the M3 or 335 comes out. |
