Can someone suggets a place to install H&R Sport Springs in Toronto???

If the M Performance suspension isn't avaliable when I get my car in October in Canada (as things take months longer than teh rest of the world here for some reason), can anyone suggest a place in Toronto that can order and install H&R Sport springs at a reasonable cost?

why wouldn't you wait until the M Performance suspension is here? It's not going to be the end of the world if you have to wait a month or two more. Your car is still going to be great.

I'd bet the overall ride with M Performance will be lightyears beyond just lowering springs.

BTW... just noticed you have M Adaptive ordered... why do you want to change?

The "adaptive" will still be there (as this adjusts the firmness of ride). The M Performance Suspension is only a spring change (lowering by an additional 10mm), similar to what you would do w/ H&R Sport Springs, just not as low....

.....actually

From what I understand M Performance is springs and dampers. It's a full on suspension change, and is also the reason the price will be ~$1500 (From what I'm told).

There is no way BMW would peddle just lowering springs as the "M Performance" suspension.

Where did you hear this? Would end up being the same cost as getting M Adaptive + H&R Sport Springs then ... I kinda need to decide ASAP (as any changes to my Sept build need to be in within the fnext 1 or 2 weeks)...

I don't see why I couldn't just get the M Performance springs (order them as parts) to get the lower "stance" I'm lookinng for. I don't see how this would be any different than getting H&R sport springs that seem to work just fine w/ the adaptive M suspension. If BMW won't install them, I'll just go to an aftermarket shop for them to install. At least they'll be BMW parts (hence makes for a tougher argument by the dealer about "voiding" the cars warranty). I find even the H&R Sport springs a bit lower than the look I'm going for.

Where have you got the idea that it is only springs?
The previous kits have included front and rear struts, shocks, spring pads, bump stops, protection tubes, stabilizer bushings, and misc. mounting hardware.

This is the E9x kit. It even uses the stock springs for some combinations.

And the H&R springs are made for the stock suspension, the BMW Performance spring is made for other shocks. So that might not be the best option to just get them as a spare part.

Thanks Rossifumi ... somewhat a newbie when it comes to the M Performance stuff, so thanks for the insight. I guess I am still unclear on whether to get the adaptive M suspension (i.e. dampeners), or would the M Performancer suspension also offer different suspension settings (i.e. comfort, etc)? I mean, would the install include programming to work w/ the cars driving selction settings?

For it to work, BMW has to offer two different versions of the M Performance suspension. And looking at the catalogue there is no mention of that, but they haven't really released the full specifications for the "regular" suspension either so before they do nobody will know for sure.

My guess is that the M Performance suspension will not be compatible with the M active suspension, unless they release two versions of the M Performance suspension. But it will be released in september if I remember correctly. But that doesn't help you very much, since you are wondering what to order.

If I were you I would get the Adaptive M Suspension, since I feel (from you words) that you want to be able to change the comfort level from time to time. And if the M Performance Suspension isn't compatible you still have the option to go with some other springs that doesn't lower the car too muc. I agree with you form previous threads that the H&R Super Sport is too low.

So just checked w/ the Parts consultant at the dealership where I have my car ordered. Looks like (in Canada anyway), that the M Performance Suspension for the E90 sold the Suspension and coils seperately (i.e. coils were not included as part of teh package), which leads me to believe that you could buy and install the coils seperately (without buying the entire package). The parts colnsultant seemed to agree w/ me. If this ends up being the case for the F30 M Performance suspension, I may be able to simply swap them out (albeit - the coils were $160/pop, so about $600 - more than double H&R), but at least the warranty would be maintained.

The springs are optional, you can use your sport springs. That is why they are sold on the side. There is a rumor that they lower the car an extra 5mm but it is not confirmed from what I've read.

edit: I just read that it is two kits for the E90. Version 2 is lower and requires the yellow performance springs. So that makes me wonder if you could use the springs on a different damper, like you want. I wouldn't want to use a spring made for a completely different suspension on my car. The performance dampers are much stiffer and therefor need other springs. So to use these springs made for the stiffer suspension on the standard suspension seems like a bad idea.

So... I've confirmed with my contacts in high places

Kit includes:
- 2 Spring Struts Front
- 2 Shock Absorbers Rear
- Additional Damper Front and Rear
- Drive Shaft Support Rear
- Anti-Roll bar Front

This is straight from the horses mouth (and I'm not talking a Dealer).... trust me

Not sure if you can get the spring's separate. That's the entire kit. No cost or release date yet.

IMHO, it's worth waiting to see. Unless you're in an absolute hurry to update your suspension.
