Headlight Advice

I've had my first ever BMW a F30 Sport for a week, bought without a test drive on the strength of all the media hullabaloo ! It's a fabulous car living up to all the hype so far.

My original 'must haves ' in the spec included xenons however the deal I was offered by Sytner on a pre registered 318d Sport was just too good to walk away from even though the car wasn't fitted with xenons.

I maybe being fussy here but the standard lights look too yellow.

I've ordered some led bulbs for the daytime running lights but I'm not sure which headlight bulbs will give the best 'white' light without looking like fake blue tint xenons, which will obviously cheapen the look. Like many a Citroen Saxo

Any recommendations ?

Look for blubls with a colour temperature of around 6000K to get really nice, white lights. Anything above that will ahve a little too much blue hue for my liking and anything below that tends to the yellow end of the spectrum. I found 6000K to be about right

Not sure but without the other xenon bits ie auto headlight height adjust and headlamp washers (which must be fitted with xenons in UK), some bulbs can render you at risk of more likely to be pulled over. Happened to me in my old e36 a few years ago.

Look at the autoexpress bulb reviews (they do one every year)

Phillips plus 50s usually win and are whiter/brighter...oh and legal
