Hello,

i want to update my CiC to V42 because of combox-retrofit.
As stated on the internet v42 is the latest SW that does not need a FSC for BMW APPS activation. And i dont know if the SW for CiC from V41 is the same as in V42.

So, does anyone know a link for V42 Daten Files?

Subscribed. I too am looking for V42 for the exact same reason. OP, what direction have you found to update the firmware on the module? I have quite a bit of experience with coding but have not done a complete firmware update of a module.

Sorry, but i dont understand your Question
maybe because im a german and my englisch is not that perfect

i have just updatet my CiC with an OPS to V41. You can update many devices with an OBD / D-Can Cable. But for a few Devices (like CiC) You need an MOST-Interace like OPS or ICOM Clone.

I dont flash with ISTA / Progman, i use WinKFP. If you have problems using that tool you can PM me.

Some nice guy told me that the CiC SW from V41 and V42 is the same. So i can use V42 and everythin is fine

V4 is still available on the net ...

I Want to activate BMW Apps. I have the Combox but it has firmware that does not have Apps. I want to update the firmware and as you stated V42 is the last firmware before FSC code is needed. So I want to update my CIC to V42 but cannot find V42 anywhere.

If you have V41 SW installed on your CiC, then it should be possible to activate BMW Apps. V41 has the same SW as V42 for the CiC, so you dont have to look for V42.

Also there should be no SW for the COMBOX that does not support BMW Apps.

I think you either have a SW on your CiC that needs a FSC for BMW APPS (V43 or higher) or you have the correct CiC Version (V41/V42) with a coding problem on CiC / Combox.

How can I be sure and verify what version firmware on my CIC? My car was a 10/10 build and was the first month they were built with new combox. My understanding per user Technic is that they didn't put the Apps Firmware/software on the combox until 3/11 build. Can you confirm?

Give me one of the following from CiC (via EDIABAS) : ZB-Nummer (Diag Job AIF lesen), FSV (Diag Job Ident) or Coding Index (Diag Job Codingindex lesen).

Or you can read out via NCS-Expert or INPA.

Then i can check if you have V41 or not.

I need to see my CIC version as well, because I think the SW is too old and why I am having trouble with my CIC retrofit. I would like to verify with NCSExpert.

Also when I read it in NCSExpert it has these files; CIC.C0A, A_CIC.IPO, CIC.PRG.

V41 and V42 are same for CIC .
