Wink 73 days from order to delivery: Part 2

Strangely enough, despite being a different factory, a different car, a different dealer, and 2,650 miles further west, it took exactly 73 days from order to delivery both the first and second time I've ordered a 335i.

Part 1

I came out of an E92 M3 this time. There are so many unique differences about the F30 - for better or for worse; I am just thrilled.

Took delivery this morning, so everything is still very, very fresh. But here's some quick notes:
  • The 6MT is very notchy. The distance between gears is tiny. So at first, it is different and feels strange; but once you get in rhythm it shifts excellently.
  • Headreasts are insanely improved - Cushioned, soft, and my head actually rests on them now!
  • The sport seats are perfect, just like before.
  • Comfort mode with M Adaptive suspension is "bouncy" in a very, very good way. I have never driven a three series which I could describe in this way until now.
  • Eco pro is excellent on the highway, Reminds you when you forget to shift because you're busy doing other things you shouldn't be doing
  • Harmon Kardon is somewhat tinny and average from it's first impression - Definitely need to play with the settings & hoping there's improvement to be made.
  • Seeing those beautiful angel eyes reflecting the first time will give you a nice little chill
  • The navi screen is positioned wonderfully, as well as the iDrive controller.
  • M Sport steering wheel! PERFECT.
  • The F30 is BIG. At least it feels that way. Maybe I am more biased coming out of two E92s, but everything feels huge. This is what I was expecting & looking forward to, so it's a very welcome change for me.
  • ASS is great as well. Not sure why everyone is complaining? It inconspicuously turns off when your car is ... stopped. Then turns back on the second your foot touches the clutch. Yay gas savings.
  • Estoril Blue II is unbelievable in person. Pictures simply do not do this color justice. Really, go see it for yourself.

On to the good stuff:

Morning workout before delivery time. A nice day to buy a BMW. (Who are we kidding; when isn't it nice here?)

Goodies ready to go.

At the dealer - The suspense kicks in right about... now.

She's pulled up front right away. My first time seeing her. I achieved my goal of my own Estoril Blue II 335i being the first time my two eyes ever see the actual color in real life - Score!

All wrapped up and new!

My first look inside.

My first sight after signing the paperwork upstairs.

A little closer, please. Those stunning headlights have my full attention...

Well those didn't last very long...

...... No words for this one

Perfect.

Not to side-track your thread, but...

ASS is perfect for you, because you got MT. With MT, you effectively tell the system when it is okay to turn the car off.

With the AT, it sucks because the logic is reversed. Instead of telling the car when it is allowed to turn the engine off, you have to tell it when it is not allowed to.

One way to tell it not to turn off the engine with the AT, is to stomp on the break hard -- after you have actually stopped moving. BMW should have reversed that logic -- you should stomp on the brake to tell it that it is okay to turn the engine off.

I have to stop at enough stop signs, that ASS is proving to be very annoying. I actually want to use it at stop lights, but it is too hard to control from one stop to the next whether it should activate or not.

Now that that is out of the way Congrats on your new ride

Haha thx!

No worries on the comment - There was a subliminal undertone of 6MT boasting with the ASS comments - I am fully aware it sucks on Auto and is pretty much "made" for 6MT. I would probably have it perma-disabled on the 8AT.

PS, LED Signals are fun!

the new wheels are horribly good!!! They appear to be so freaking wide.... What are those wheels and how much did they cost you?
The originals were 18" style 400M right? did you trade them in or something?

Congrats! Looks amazing!

Post a video of the LED lights! That's the one thing I am planning on changing right after mine arrives. So very annoyed that BMW AGAIN saves LED for mid-cycle refresh.

Is the M Sport steering wheel metallic bits actually metal or plastic? The renders on the BMW Configurator made it look plastic but the pictures I have seen actually look like metal. If it is plastic it's some good looking plastic!

Congrats Gerbs!
That is a fantastic looking car!
When I placed my order, the dealer already had an order in for an MSport in EBII to be a lot car. He was good enough to change the build to what I wanted... almost wish I had taken the EBII, that color is awesome!

Thanks everyone for the comments!

More pics are coming these are just the first round.

Car drives like a dream. No steering wheel shakes and the steering wheel is not off center as some have reported.

Great, thanks! Looking forward to hearing your feedback on the tires after you put some miles on them. I am planning to install the M5 reps with gunmetal/polished finish, but I haven't decided on tires yet.
