Bmw coding tire pressure
I have no idea if this is the right place to post this but its worth a shot.
After finishing my coding process on a 335 f30 2012 and enabling the tire pressure and temp indicators, all i get are two "--" where the amounts should be. I have already tried activating the tire monitor and it still displays nothing although the Celsius and psi letters are still there. Any coders out there that could help? |

You probably have the non-detailed tpms.
There are two types, one that can provide the psi & temp, and the other that is a more basic "ok" or "not ok".

Do you have metal stems on your tires? If so you have TPMS and should get pressure/temp. If rubber stems then you have FTM (flat tire monitor) which does not provide this data

I had this too. Reset the system twice drive for a day and reset it again. Works like a charm.

When i have a puncture on my e60 all tyres on the monitor turn orange so you don't know which one is soft without checking.
Will this be the case on the f30 or will it show which one is low ?

If you know about coding you probably also know about te DIY cheatsheet, the code mod which enables hp and lbft torque in the sport displays will expand your units menu in the car's settings and you will be able to select any unit for the diagnostics screen. Cheers |

US cars have pressure sensors in the wheels. I don't think that is the usual case in Europe unless you can read out the pressure in the display already. If you haven't got the sensors there is no use activating the function through coding.

So, for cars with TPMS and coding for pressure and temp, how does the central system know the location (i.e.,which corner) of the tire?
For the commenter with a temperature differential: I would suspect an alignment issue. |

I do not have temp showing just pressure. I think you have to code it to show temp. I have no idea why if the feature is there why BMW does not give it to you standard. It just does not make sense why owners either have to code them or ask BMW to code it and pay or maybe they will refuse to do it, and if you do code it and they find something wrong heaven help you when they blame the coding and don't fix the affiliated issue under warranty because you did something to the car that you weren't supposed to lol. I think for some reason they only give the temps to the BMW's in Europe not in USA who knows why its a mystery lol
