Mazda 6, 3 series copied?
maybe its just me, but at first glance, I thought it was the 3 series M Sport, that front just looks so familiar. From what I heard its pretty impossible to launch a successful lawsuit against another auto company for design copy.
I including a pic of the M sport, and yes they are different, but when looking at main design elements like the headlight shape and hood shape they are very similar, and the aggresive front bumper, side mirrors... I guess not many people will cross shop unless a Mazdaspeed6 comes out again (which I used to own).   Last edited by Mako; 09-27-2012 at 10:16 AM.. |

Yeah, I can see the similarities, but I really doubt that Mazda made a concerted effort to copy BMW. The new 6 is based on the Takeri concept that debuted in late 2011 and was probably in development for quite some time before that.
Given crash compatibility regulations, passenger space requirements, and aerodynamic considerations, I imagine that it's becoming more and more difficult for designers to differentiate designs on a 3-box sedan (saloon). |

Looks nothing like the 3. Looks a bit like the Jag XF in profile though

I wish they bring out a Mazdaspeed 6 too... I am a Mazda fanboy... have owned a couple and driven a few... they are excellent drivers cars for not a lot of money.

There's rumours that the next gen 6 platform will see the rebirth of the MPS brand
 I'll see if I can find the article again but there was definitely mention of the next MPS/Speed6

 I remember seeing that brand on Top Gear a while back. They're epic. it's just typical of the lack of copyright in China, or at least the lack of copyright enforcement. You can buy a jPhone or a jPad or any other famous brands you can think of. There is a huge market in unashamedly fake brands copies in China and they just don't care.

The differences are much greater than any similarities. The new Mazda 6 looks very nice though. Mazda has produced some very cool, and different, looking cars. RX7 multiple generations, 3rd gen from '92 on were the best. RX8 Mazda 3, not the current one 2nd Gen MX-6 MX-3 was pretty cool for it's size. It had a 1.8liter V6! That was bold and pretty cool to do. |
