ower mesh replacement warning for 335 E92

If you have a 335 and are thinking about using the 328 Black lower mesh to replace the silver, DO NOT DO IT! The 328 mesh has a panel blocking the air duct for the oil cooler in the front passenger wheel well. My dealer did not catch this and put it in anyway. Luckily I looked at it and noticed it blocking the air for the cooler and immediately took it out. If you do no thave the seocnd cooler on your car it may not be an issue but if you do it will prevent air from getting to that cooler. Just a heads up!

Let me make this a little clearer. The 328 mesh works but the solid panel that comes on the passenger side piece must be removed if you have a 335 with the second cooler. I apologize if I wasnt clear or if i caused any trouble.
Thanks

I took off the black mesh completely and it looks nice... like what an air intake should.

Dude why are you getting everyone all scared.

I put 328i black lower mesh grilles on my car. Then I brought the car in for an oil cooler retrofit. When the tech installed the cooler he removed the panel from the grille to allow for the air to flow. My point is...If you have an oil cooler and install 328i black grilles (which IMO is the way to go because if you paint them they will chip) all you have to do is take an exacto knife before you install the passengers side mesh grille and remove the panel.

I am not trying to get everyone scared. I am letting them know in case they do what i did and have it done at the dealer. Most people assume that the dealer would not install something that would damage the car and therefore would have no reason to think twice about something like this. I agree, it is very easy to remove the panel, but if you did not know it was there and it was already on your car there is aq potential problem......that was what i was addressing.

I was a bit concerned about the oil cooler as well. I installed the 328 mesh prior to the oil cooler retro, then I read that with the oil cooler comes a new airduct. I was expecting to pick my car up with 2 black grilles and one silver lol.

But I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the panel is easily removed and that the tech did the right thing.

Yes when I had my oil cooler retrofitted the tech removed the "panel" to open up the mesh all the way accross. He did a great job with the oil cooler.
