Part number for Logic 7 Subs please
Hi All,
When I was at the dealer having my service last week I popped into the parts department to ask them for a price on these subs. They could't find the part number and said they'd call back. Well, they've called back and said they still can't find it. Do any of you knowledgeable people happen to know what the part number is? I'm not sure if my subs are bonded to the enclosures or not, but if the are I guess I will need the subs plus the enclosures. Thanks in advance !

I am pretty sure the subs are not bonded in just held in very tight by foam strips - I know when I replaced mine they came out with a bit of help from a screwdriver
(I may have L7 subs for sale in the future if I can get my hands on some earthquake sws 8 subs) |

Thanks. I guess I'm going to have to take a seat out to find out if mine are bonded.
I'd be interested in buying someone's second hand units, but if not I will need a part number it would appear. It does surprise me that BMWs own parts department can't give me this information!

Thanks Doc. First number being sub and second the enclosure? Is RealOEM a website? Also, is Logic 7 made my Harmon Kardon - there seems to be reference to this when I google the part numbers?

Isn't Harmon Kardon the new name for Logic 7? (used to be HK in E46 days though) Realoem refers to the 'S' option order numbers, i.e. S688A for HK, or S677A for Hifi DSP.
Is realoem a website?? FFS man, all this time on the forum and you've never been on realoem? Just like having your own microfiche, but online (remember microfiches?) Either put in the last 7 digits of your chassis number to find your model, or just choose from the drop down lists. You can even search by part number across model ranges etc. enjoy! http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do Found the subwoofer bits (I chose a mar 2010 car as don't know what yours is) http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...26&hg=65&fg=20 Looks like the subwoofer and enclosure come as 1 part and cannot be ordered separately - and they're listed at $400 each!! Ha ha, no, never been to that site before because I've never needed any parts!
Thanks for the help, I'll take a look around the site, but at those sort of prices, second hand may be my only option. The standard subs sound fairly good but one is popping which is why I was thinking of upgrading. May just have to get a new sub under warranty and be done with it.

even if its bonded, its worth removing still. I have Logic 7 subs installed and the bass improvement was well worth it.
All you need to do is heat the glue and with a flat edged screwdriver remove the sub (I would say gently but you need to use some force). Actually once the sub was out half way I just pulled the sub out and it didn't damaged the enclosure (the old subs are now in the bin though). |

But you can't buy the speakers without the enclosure anyway??
So there's no point separating the old ones when the new ones will come in a new enclosure. (well pukka ones from BMW do) |

Oh right.
Can the enclosures be bought on their own? If not, I guess I would need to seperate mine if I bought a second hand pair of speakers without enclosures.

Thanks Makkan
I read somewhere that woofers were simply screwed into the enclosures up until a certain production date. I dont remember that exact date but it was a few months after my prod date, which is 07/2009. After whatever date it was, the woofers were glued in. |

Yes, I think mine might be on the cusp of screw / glued.
Not sure what to do at the moment. Might depend on if the popping on my current sub gets any worse.
