N55 Engine Failure

Yesterday I was driving my '11 E92 335i when suddenly its made a carcking noise and the car wouldn't respon, I gave it some gas and nothing after a little while the engine shut down and can't manage to start it up again. The car has 5000 km on the odo so it's practically new. It was towed back to the dealer's but they don't know what is wrong with the car. They say it could be a problem with the fuel but im not really sure that could be it since I always try to use the best fuel available, in my country that would be Shell VPower... has anyone here had this issue that could give me some pointers. This is really dissapointing...
I'm asking for a full refund since the fuel used is the one they recommend here, but I really would like to know if anyone has any clue as to what could've went wrong...

Really hard to diagnose unless you have some codes from the ECU. It literally could be anything.

How can I get the codes? I doubt the dealer will give them to me...

Sounds too sudden to be HPFP. Codes would help if you could possibly acquire them!

Since it's a 2011 with low miles, maybe the car has been sitting for 2 years?

N55s don't suffer massively from HPFP issues. That thread you may be thinking of, actually read it. The problem was not the HPFP.

@John_070,
I don't think it is from sitting nor being short distances and turned off (lot reorganization).

OP, when did you buy your car? What is its production date? What was the odo when you drove it off the lot?

I got all service receipts from my car's previous owner when I bought it (they were left in the glove box). My car's HPFP failed 6 days after delivery, with less than 200 miles on the odometer. Crazy, but not unheard of.

OP's engine is a N55, not N54.

Have you had any HPFP issues since your purchase? I'm not trying to jinx you, I'm just curious.

I bought got the car on may this year with 10 km on the odo. The production date was January '11 so I guess it was seating at the dealer's for more than a year.

Could be as simple as water in the gas.

I highly doubt that it's actual engine failure.

Let the dealer check it out, shouldn't be too difficult.

Yeah, realized that after I'd posted. I thought the N55s didn't have many problems with HPFP at all.

And no, no problems with the new pump after 43k miles. Still chugging along

I spoke to the dealer today, he says the only code he got from the ECU was cylinder shut down, there seems to be a problem with the combustion, but they still don't know exactly what's wrong.

I finally got a call from the dealer's shop today and got terrible news. Turns out there was an injector malfunction, and this led to an excess of fuel to get into the cylinder causing the cylinder and piston head to melt and deform. Since the car has only got 5,000 km on the odo, I told them I would not accept anything but a new car or my money back...they said they would get back to tomorrow...

I would expect no less than a new car. This is major engine damage if what you say is true. Chances are they will not repair it and replace it with a new engine or give you another car. I wish I was in his position so i can upgrade to a 335 lol
