Taking my car in next monday for Waste Gate rattle inspection

I made an appointment today to get my car checked out, due to the loud rattling on cold start, i asked if i could have a loaner and they go are you 25? im like no, but my dad is 50 and ill come in there with him, anyway that kind of pissed me off, then i asked if i would be charged anything since its covered under the new extended warranty, and they told me it would be 125$ if they end up not finding anything wrong with it. so my fingers are crossed its my wastegates! idk if i should take off my JB+ chip or not? i talked to the mechanic the other day and he said that he'd already seen it and didnt care.

Don't be offended by age thing. It depends on the insurance the dealer uses. I had to go through the same thing with Acura; they would drive me to Enterprise and get me a rental for the day every time my car was in.

If mods to the car caused the issue your warranty on those items is void. Since the WG rattle is a known and recalled issue, and your tech seems to not care it would seems as if you're ok.

Most rental car companies will not rent you a car if you are under 25 (or will charge an 'up-fee', dealers tend to follow the same process).

If your car was going in for the first time I would say to take the JB out - as they could say that had some impact on the wastegate. However, if they have already seen it and said it is OK then you mightbe fine.

The fee that they are charging is standard - same goes for CPO warranty as well. If the issue they find is not related to an item covered under warranty they have the option to charge the full diagnostic fee.

If they replicate the rattle, they will more than likely do a software update, then replace wastegate actuators. If that doesn't work then the turbo system.

My car is going in to have the wastegate actuators replaced for the second time tomorrow (and I have never been presented with an option to replace the turbos yet).

You may want to take it off - don't give the dealer an excuse not to do the work.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes

I don't think rattle on start up is wastegate issue. Virtually all 335s do that. Rattle occurs at higher RPM I think.

Not saying it isn't possible now, back in the day most car rental companies would not rent a vehicle to someone under 25. Most of the major rental companies will now rent a vehicle to the 21-24 demographic but then they usually add a premium.

Just a quick Google search and first 3 links;
