Buying My leased Car - Extended Warranty?

I still have one year of Warranty on a 2009 6mt 335xdrive. I only have 21k miles, the extended warranty that can be passed on to the next driver or paid back is 2k for up to 75k miles. I think the max I would keep the car is 2years. This option is actually cheaper than CPO with better coverage.

What do other BMW drivers think.

I went through the same predicament back in May. Bought out my 03/09 production 335i and went back and forth on whether or not to buy the extended warranty. I had more miles than you (roughly 38k at that point, factory warranty for another year), but I ended up going for it. The extended warranty is transferable and I figured that would be a big selling point down the road. Also, considering the rampant fuel injector/wastegate/water pump issues, a single trip to the dealer for any of these out of warranty could easily end up costing me more than $2k out of pocket. Just my $.02.

contact daniel dutton at pacific bmw. tell him jay sent you. get the warranty -- you're spending $1200 for two years of coverage...thats with you saying you're going to get back 2k before 75k miles.

cpo is just an inspection...the same thing they will do if you pop up in their system as a new owner and if your car is still under 4/50k.

i too have an 09' m-sport. Just had a $300 cable replaced as per warranty (4/50k) and if it was out of warranty and in my extended I would have already paid $300 for it.

enjoy.

Got the warranty, peace of mind was the main issue. Since I am so low on miles it was the same as a new car warranty.
