Anyone miss their E90 after getting the F30?
I went for a test drive recently and was quite impressed by the 4 banger besides the tinning sound. The electronic steering is was also a bit disappointing in terms of feedback. However, overall the 8AT does seem pretty smooth. I was wondering if anyone coming from an E90 has any regrets upgrading to the F30? I've got a 2010 E92 xdrive and now that on the fence about whether to upgrade.

I'm in a similar boat. E90 335 MSport lease up in December. Have a '13 335 MSport on order. After a couple test drives, the new car seems a little less BMW. Maybe because it was a test, maybe because I couldn't test a car with dynamic handling...Maybe its just different enough that some of us prefer our beloved E90s.
Don't get me wrong, there are things about the F30 I really like. 8 spd trans, interior, rear legroom, potential for improved mileage on trips in Eco Pro mode, some of the new tech gizmos. Then there's things I prefer with my E90. Steering, Steering, Steering. E90 seems to communicate with driver better. Probably the N54 motor. Low dust brake pads. Oh, LED lamps all around. So, I continue to ponder... |

In a few ways yes
but as each day goes by, less and less. My 2010 e92 msport was manual and that I definitely miss. 8 speed is very cool though, steering as you said is very much less enjoyable, especially on nice winding roads. The new 335 msport is great though and offers much more than my 2010. My wife really disliked the e92 and absolutely loves this one. More comfortable ride, nicer interior, she loves the looks, I'm still wondering about the front end? In conclusion, would I make the move knowing what I do now....yes. Hniel btw, car has msport, m sport brake pkg, adaptive m susp, variable sport steer, 19's.

Hope you don't mind me chiming in from Down Under. I just sold my E90 and although I have had my F30 for almost 2 weeks, I became accustomed to it very quickly.
Anyway, the buyer is picking up my/soon to be his E90 on Saturday and I have had to drive it around a little over the past few days to have it made road worthy for sale. Well, let me tell you that the 6 cylinder is a magnificent engine and yes, I will miss it. In fact, the F30 is the first 4 cylinder BMW I have owned. E36, E46 and E90 all sixes. To me, the F30 steering feels right. In comparison, the E90 felt like its power steering failed, it was so heavy - but only for a few moments. No, I do not regret selling the E90 as I have settled very well into my new car and look forward to giving it a bit more of a hard run after run in, which will be very soon. Just enjoying the features of the F30 for the time being.

Although i didnt get my F30 yet i have drove my buddy's and i have to say i like the E90 much better. atleast when its on the track.
Ive tracked my E90 a couple of times and liek the way it the steering responds in the corners and such. last weekend i tracked my friends 328i xdrive modern line and i had a hard time adjusting to the steering. but for everyday driving im sure this isnt a problem at all. that and i do like the LED everything E90s have, quite disappointed that they even took out LED turn signals....im sure they will have it on hte LCI's but even the F10s have them =/ just my opinion though |

Thanks for all the feedback. I've decided to keep my E92. Still love the inline 6 and the handling. Got my eyes set now on a future Boxster. Time to save up a bit

The F30 is the first BMW I owned, so I cannot talk about the E90. However, I would have never bought a BMW if their new car were still the E90. I never liked it. Never liked the interior and was not too crazy about the exterior either. I was a Mercedes fan right until the F30 came out.
Maybe you guys know best when comparing the two, but for me, the best 3 series to buy is by far the F30. I love everything about it and this car brings a smile to my face every time I am driving it. Isn't this the most important feat of a car? Yesterday I gave my car a wash, it was beautiful outside and in my lunch break I went to clean it. While I was removing every water drop still left on it, people stopped by to admire the car. I got a few compliments and even one driver with an E90 stopped to say "nice car buddy". Needless to say how proud I was... |

I've had my F30 for a week now. Some things I really like such as the vastly improved interior, technology (gadgets), quickness, but I do not like the wind noise, road noise, N20 engine note, removal of led signals, new cup holders lack of an removable insert for cleaning, removal of "all" feature on the climate control, body roll in "comfort and eco-mode" (I set it to sport mostly, which is what a BMW 3 series should have as default), stop-start harshness, rusted seat bottoms and frames. Would I take my E90 back? Absolutely.

Nope. I ended up getting the luxury line, but also drove the sport line and sat in the modern line. They all come with it as standard equipment which is pretty impressive, but gotta get some gadgets for the price of them. They also now come with i-drive as standard equipment. You don't have the adaptive suspension? Where did you buy?

If that is the case, I don't know where one would select it on bmw canada's online configurator for any of the build lines then. All the 328's that my dealer had on the lot appeared to have the feature. I didn't ask specifically for it, and it does not appear to be part of any of the packages I have in mine. Heaven forbid if they Build a 328 with only the comfort setting as standard as the handling in this mode sucks. Dunno what to tell you!

He's talking about the various modes, i.e. Eco, Comfort, Sport and Sport +. This is standard on "all" cars and does not mean you have Adaptive Suspension.

I thought that was what he was talking about. Isn't that what they refer to as the adaptive suspension? I know there is the M-adaptive, but don't think that is even available on mine.

Yes, I think he thought you got the M Adaptive Suspension. Now that's a whole different story...
