"However our experience in the Lakes did highlight one other issue that we don’t like – and we’ve been through all the menus and we can’t see a way to change it. When you reverse, the passenger side door mirror automatically angles down to the floor.... Showing the tarmac under the rear wheel is no use. Of course it’s not just this 330d or even just BMWs that do this, but we’d prefer it if the mirror stayed in its normal position. The driver can always angle it down manually on the few occasions where this is safer."
I thought it was easy to override this feature - just slide the mirror selector switch to the centre or left position and the mirror doesn't dip in reverse...?

Yep, that narks me off somewhat ... all due respect to touring drivers of course!
Not the merest hint of anyone reviewing the F30 330d M Sport - seems daft to me, when for those who don't need the touring, it's clearly the pick as an all round, highly economical driver's car with superb real world performance. :-( |

I'm a bit of a fussy bugger and I don't want to tow around 65kg of extra weight all the time, when I'm likely to use the extra space once or twice a year. The 330d touring I drove pitched a bit too much for me and didn't feel as planted at the back through rough surfaced bends as the saloon I'd driven earlier. Not a vast difference, but enough to matter to me. I'm quite lucky as I have mates with estates or 4x4s, so we tend just to swap on the rare occasions when I need space - for the price of a bottle of wine :-) I can't wait for the 35d to come out. I have a two year lease deal through BMW and my dealer says I can upgrade at no cost after 18 months. If they build it, the 335d will be an incredible car - I'll be camping outside my dealer to get the first one ... Last edited by DieselRocket; 11-26-2012 at 05:48 PM.. Reason: More typos ... |

By all accounts, they're saving the 35D or 40D for the 4 series

The 4 series info.
The 35D was dropped from the F30 lineup back in February and yet the 35D engine has been mentioned in the engine lineup for the F32 so it stands to reason that they saved the 35D as a premium selling point for the over-priced F32 I mean, how else are they going to sell what is effectively going to be a 2-3 year old model for a higher price?

No, they will sell an F30 335D, it is virtually the same engine but at higher profit margin than the 30D, so would be idiotic of a car company not to cash in on the biggest selling body type in the range. They may well launch it in F32, but I'm pretty sure we will see a F30 version. ............but damn 230Kw and 740Nm that is Aaaaaaaaamazing

We'll see, I guess. BMW definitely canned the idea so who knows
It wouldn't surprise me if they withheld the 300bhp diesel for an M model coupe. Saaaay, an M440D perhaps?

I think BMW are just trying to work out how to capitalise on beating the Audi A6 Bi-Turbo. Maybe a 335D xDrive??? |

Problem they have is new M3/4 is only supposed to have mid 400's power wise. A 340i/440i will be close enough to ruin sales |

Except we all know there's a lot more to an M3 than Horsepower. Ask an RS4 or a C63 about that and see which gets round Magny Cours the quickest

Erm no I disagree.......we real enthusiasts know........but half the dipsticks that buy these cars wouldn't know the difference between a DSG and slushbox, an inline 6 and a V8 (just read the M3 threads, lol) a turbo and a spark plug. So 'we all know' is not a true statement.
