320i (I know, I know!) - nearly all warning lights !!

I know there are problems with injectors etc on this engine, and I'm currently waiting for and OBD lead and software so I can read the car for fault codes.

The car is not running well, and has had all coils, injectors and plugs replaced recently.

anyhow, over the last two days the car has been throwing on all kinds of warnings and fault lights and I'm starting to wonder if its something daft like the battery or a dodgy earth somewhere? - I notice on one of the invoices there is an entry 're-charge the battery' ?

This morning it started 'bonging' away with a picture of the car on a ramp (service?) - only just serviced, then the DTC light, ABS light, CEL light and various other lights before flashing the roof warning light (it's the convertible), then the airbag light and probably other stuff I've forgotton. The eco needle was swinging from o to mid point also (rythmically).

Sometimes switching the car off and removing the key, then restarting sorts it - no lights at all but car still not running great. This morning I drove the car about 500 meters and all the warning lights etc stopped and it went back to normal again without a re-start.

Any ideas, anyone experienced this before ??

any help appreciated

I've just been out to the car again now, started it, car on ramp pic, DTC & ABS & autostop/start lights lit for a few seconds then all went off. ABS & DTC came back on and then went back off again ! then sat for a few mins with no issues and no lights lit ???

Not yet no, but there's nothing to suggest that the battery is low?

Will a battery in poor condition result in this sort of weird behaviour??

The short answer is yes, the car is full of computers expecting a stable power source. It is also the easiest thing to check first.

Yes, mine did this, and then lost all power in the outside lane of dual carriageway....that was final straw for me!

Quite common especially if it has an agm battery (black one) if they go below 40% charge they will never recover like a normal battery. Quite often the batteries go flat when the car is on the forecourts. I would try charging the battery fully

Had all if not all the same lights come on along with the speedometer cutting in and out. Issue was my alternator was bouncing from 12, 14, 16 volts which was causing my dash to light up like a Xmas tree. Solved all my issues after getting replaced along with my rough idle that I thght I was stuck with forever. Hope this helps.

the lack of low voltage or stability is an issue with all computor controlled modern vehicles and as said earlier any low voltage, battery or alternator will throw up warning lights and when it does start and run it will be running rough.
