Steam cleaning interior/seats?

Bought a small handheld steamer for cleaning the door pockets and other plastic pieces, and going to try it on the seat rails while the seats are out of the car. But I'm curious if it's unwise to use them on my seats - it has a few attachments that could easily get between the back & bottom...

Edit: Seats are Dakota Brown (if it makes a difference)...

Many pros steam seats, key is not to hot or not to damp. Search some of the dedicated detailing forums and there is plenty of info. As far as carpets go steam away just make sure they are dry when putting the inerior back together. Steamer also works wonders on door jambs if you are goign fore the tru show car detail.
