2007 328xi: Blue liquid leaking from drivers side engine compartment
2007 328xi Coupe
The other day my girlfriend noticed a Blue liquid on the garage floor where my car rests. I tasted the liquid and it tasted nothing like coolant. It has a taste like detergent. I tasted the windshield cleaner and they MIGHT be the same. But the windshield reservoir is on the opposite side of the engine compartment. So how could it get all the way to the driver’s side? Also this does not happen all the time. This has happened only twice in the last 3 weeks. Does anybody have a Clue on what this Blue liquid could be? Does anyone know if the coolant for a 2007 328xi is blue? Btw the 6” calipers are there for scale only. And the oil spots are from a ’05 wrx I owned before the BMW. I want to add that I will never buy a Japanese car again! The BMW is by far superior to any Japanese car I have owned. My opinion. |

Not really, but the toxic dose of a normal 50/50 mix is something like .2L for an average sized adult, so though it's quite poisonous, a quick taste won't do much harm. Not to say that I'd recommend tasting engine fluids, color and location should usually be enough to distinguish one from another.
One time in college, one of our crazy chem professors walked by our student group office door and noticed a bottle of I think model RC fuel. He kept walking, but then poked his head back and goes, unprompted, "You know, if you put a little drop of that on the tip of your tongue, you'll get high as a kite! But not more than that, or it'll kill ya," and then just kept walking. Thinking back on it, it seems more likely it was something other than nitro, could have been anything from potassium nitrate to HTPB curative. We had a lot of exotic stuff lying around. Anyway, point is, don't lick engine fluids. |
