I have no idea what the dealer did or did not do but two things
1. With a lift it would be hard to spend more then 10 or 15 minuets to change oil & a filter. 2. Multigrade detergent oil will turn black very quickly - color is no indication of the oils condition.

You must be an automotive engineer to make the accusation. Oil that is doing it's job will turn black. Next time send the oil out for a test. Is the oil in the photo BMW approved.

As I was reading your thread I saw flame written all over it.
I have always wondered whether they are changing my oil or not, but then again.. why not? It's such a simple task for them. |

I have use of a lift and it takes me maybe 10 minutes to drain the oil out and that includes getting the drain can, opening the plastic cover, removing the drain plug and trying not to get scalded and then installing the plug closing the cover lowering the car off the lift. I open the filter cap and remove the filter which takes 2 minutes before raising it too.
Filling the oil takes maybe 5 minutes. Done. So you can change this pretty fast with a lift. No idea if they changed your oil or not but I can't see any dealer risking a fraud charge over an oil change. Royal Purple is an excellent replacement oil by the way... |

Oil comes out *black* after 5,000 miles - that's no indicator of failure to change oil...

I don't know where you got the idea that it takes 15-20 min to drain the oil from the car. I can change the oil in my car literally in 10 min....
Doesn't take long for the oil to turn black. I don't get how you think they didn't change your oil? I would be pissed if it took them longer than 30 min to change my oil. And no the car takes 7 quarts. You ask questions like you've never changed oil, but then you bash this dealership like you're an oil expert...MKAH op...MKAAHHH

This thread reeks of automotive newbiness.
A) Dealerships change oil fast. They don't wait for the last drops to come out. B) Oil turns black VERY soon. C) 7.5k meh. Not with modern oils and manufacturer tolerances. They rate everything one-up so people who cheap out and go one down don't blow up. D) The only real way to know is if you mark the filter / lab analysis. Yes, there are tons of dealers who get caught but you have to prove it. Next time, mark your filter underneath or mark your drain plug with invisible ink and UV it.
