Installing springs

Anyone knows of a shop where I could get some springs installed. I called up TMS and they're charging me $360 for that. Not sure if this is a good price although sounds a bit on the high side.

Let me know if you guys recommend anyone around the area for a good price.

Try a smaller shop. 3D in Hudson, NH has a good reputation. There are probably some in MA. Some members of some forums also do work. It is not a rocket science job. Takes 3 hours though someone who has done it 5 times might do it in less.

Have went there for work? I don't mind the ride as long as it's a good price and done correctly.

I used 3D to reprogram an E39 ABS module, thought they were a good shop and have heard only good things about them. Probably no tax.

I do all my own work so I installed my E90M3 springs, which is why I can say it is not rocket science and that even a moderate DIYer can do it no problem in half a day. I have read of other shops in NH and MA that people like, but have not really paid attention. It is possible you might save $100 somewhere else. To me, all the labor money I save means more mod money!

Thanks for the tips man! I might consider doing it myself now that I think about it. Could be a nice project and save the money for other mods like you said.

What tools would I need to do the work?

Only thing you would need to get usually is a spring puller. Rent one for the day is 25. Then hand tools and floor jacks is about it. Doing mine in about 2 weeks.

It would be nice if anyone else was going to do this to get together in one spot and doing it that way. The more heads overlooking the better. Plus everyone could us the extra help.

I don't have any tools so I guess I will need to purchase those.

Did you try Kaizan? I've been to their shop, they do top notch work as well. Might be just as pricey as TMS though...

At Autozone, the tools are free to use. Just have to give them a c/c number to use as a deposit.

In that case your initial outlay would be steep without any tools, which everyone should own.

They are in Boxborough...

I haven't had any work done by them, but came away impressed after their open house in the fall...

One of my coworkers did all his tuning and adjustments on his Elise at Fast Track in Peabody. Not as glitzy as Kaizen, but they do good work from what I am told.

I called Fastrack and Scott was able to give me a better rate than the other places I've called. $400 with alignment.

I'm thinking of going with them instead of doing the work myself. I'm definitely a DYIer but when it comes to that stuff, don't really like messing around with it unless it's my winter beater and I need to change the shocks or something.

Thanks again man

400 with alignment is a god deal as alignment is 150-180 usually.

Springs should be about $200 for the install. Even my full coilovers was $225. So shop around. Anything over $300 is utter bullshit pricing.

Horsepower Freaks did both of my installs and even adjusted my coilovers twice on my Z4MC and my E92 M3.
