iDrive display screen – Still backlit when off?
Hi All
I have used one of my steering wheel programmable buttons (Star button) to enable the switching on and off of the iDrive display screen. This does not however seem to fully turn the screen off; it still has some back lighting even when black. What I’m after is being able to turn the screen off as it would appear when the car is turned off. Is this possible to achieve while driving at night? Unless I need a function on the screen, I find it less dazzling at night with the screen off. Thanks; LRS

I don't think there's any way around it, without making your own little 'curtain' to hide the display! All the best. Viv |

Funny. I never turn mine off.
Got so used to see where I'm on the map.

I hate this.
I have actually thought about making some kind of cover for the I-Drive screen.
If somebody would make an aftermarket cover I would buy it. The glow is very annoying at night. With the screen dark, I want it DARK. |

I dont turn mine off unless I have a passenger on a long highway trip thats sleeping. While I wish it would completely black out, Im sure it has something to do with preserving the screen from later malfunctions (from heating and cooling too fast).

Use a microfibre cloth. It would serve dual purpose.

I somehow have this weird vision of a little Venetian blind installed in your car.
