AW fading problem

I got my AW 335xi back in late May. Today, when I went to get my car washed, I noticed that the front bumper has turned into a yellowish white color while the rest of the body panels are still white. Does anyone else experience a problem like this?

Maybe the machine or car washer didn't do the proper job?

If it's only few months old, take it back to the dealer and ask them to repaint the bumper or request an exchange with their stock 335xi's bumper.

I've only had my car for 3 months so I don't think it should be this way. I'll give the dealership a call on Tuesday.

May be after a good few years, but it should happen in a few months.

Sounds like a repair poorly executed. Could it be there was some minor damage and the dealership painted the front bumper before delivering the car?

The clear bra on my car has yellowed a bit, but the paint seems fine on the front of my AW. Took delivery July 07.

The plastic parts, front and rear on AW will not be exactly the same as the painted steel. I noticed this a bit on my '06, and it's slightly more noticable with the '07. There is a slight yellow hue on the plastic and a bluer hue over the sheet metal. You have to be in certain light to really see that though.

I've noticed this to be exceptionally true with Acura's White TLs....The bumpers are a completely different color on the body than the bumper.

i was unaware that clear bras yellow. what brand of bra is t ?? u have had ur car for only a year, what gives??

I didn't know that either....if anything, I would have guessed the paint under the clear bra to be a little darker....

interesting. I had AW before and never experienced any thing like this. You should just take it to the dealer and see what's up.

+1 Absolutely

Wife's '04 Aspen White MDX has plastic parts just a shade off from the sheetmetal. Not really anything you would notice from afar but I am hyper-sensitive to color variations and it kind of pisses me off. She's ok with it so I don't obsess about it...LOL

If the OP's car is really that bad he needs to take it to the dealer. No way should white be yellowing, certainly not in less than 4 months.

yep, our 2002 TLS was terrible - the bumpers weren't even close to the sheetmetal color. So I asked the service dept, and their reply was predictable "it's normal".

We like white cars in our house, and it's been the same for the Accord, the Maximas, and the G35, too......pearl white is apparently a difficult color to match between plastic bumpers and sheet metal panels.

The best match to date is the ES350, but it's still not quite the same.

You mean your clear bra is no more than 2 months old, and it has yellowed - already? That sounds outrageous.
