Exhaust Tips

Does anyone know if the exhaust tips on the F30 335 are welded on or just riveted/bolted? I know on the e90 the tips had to be cut off if you wanted to replace them. Looking at the M Performance exhaust DIY here it looks like there is some kind of single bolt but its tough to tell if thats the only thing holding them on (it helps that the OP on that thread has a sportline with the black tips).

They come right off - not welded.

Swapped my m sport shiny ones for black tips. Took about 5 minutes total. All you need is a rubber mallet and WD40.

I'm looking into the same. How much was it for the black tips?

I must be in the minority....I actually have the black tips (came standard on my Sport Line), and I'm looking forward to my MPE partially because I think the chrome tips will look better.

I have MPE and I'm thinking about black (and bigger) tips... the Chrome just gets dirty after one drive.

Feel like selling the black ones once you get the PE?

Haha....I'll let you know if I do. Right now, still deciding if I'm going through with the PE or not.

If they just come right off, do you know what size inlet you would need? I'd like to get some 3.5" tips similar to the Challenge tips

Exhaust tip paint flaking

Driver's side exhaust tip paint is flaking off. Passenger side is absolutely fine.

15k km on the car.

Thoughts?

The drivers side one (at least thats the side the flap is on, but it think it shuts off the passenger tip). The flap itself is like 12-18 inches in though, well past the tips.

Rubber mallet from the bottom of the car. Just bang it out a little and then it slides out

If I ever get my car, I'm thinking of getting Dimisa tips. Have them on my E92 and they look amazing! Stock tips were just a little too small for me...

You have to use a rubber mallet to bang the tip off. They slide on and off.
