Slightly different take on 335 MPPK
After a week with the MPPK, I am in awe of the upgrade.
It is dramatically faster when pushed hard. Let my CA try it yesterday and he drove it hard and fast ( probably because the local police around the dealership let him break alot of laws they would not allow me to break ) He hit 3 digits on the speedo easily with the same run thru the 8 AT gearbox ease I find running from 40-80 mph. Car is fast as a 335 should be. All of his driving was in comfort mode BTW. He never touched the sport button or paddle shifted the trans. ps He giggled like a little kid every time he hit the throttle. BUT--( probably showing my age here) what has me in awe is how much more pleasurable it is just to drive the 335 in mundane everyday driving. Car is smoother, shifts better, and now has throttle response more consistent with a 300 hp + engine. Everything about the car now seems more in step to me. This is what every 335 should feel like. It was what I thought I had bought to begin with before I started to feel the lazy throttle in comfort mode. I enjoyed the car for the first 8K miles I drove it, BUT, I really love how it drives now. The money for the kit is money well spent not just for street racers and track drivers, its money well spent for anyone who wants to turn their 335 into a much better driving automobile. |

I couldn't have said it better myself. Comfort is nice now, though I still use Sport a lot. The transmission is smoother (in Sport mode), but also more responsive.
The M Sport should come this way, standard.

I don't use Eco pro anymore. I find comfort to be the perfect blend of relaxed driving with the kids for example and short bursts when needed. Mppk is the future

I have the MPPK installed in my car. But I'm still braking in the engine it has now 900 miles. Can't wait for the 1,200k to get here soon. Want to see how fast is the 335 compare to my previous x6 5.0....

Hmmm... actually I have a slightly different observation. In comfort mode the car is quite a bit more aggressive to the point that it remains in lower gears even at low speeds. Just yesterday, I was in a stop and go traffic with a friend and realized that with speeds below 20 mph, as soon as you let go of the pedal the car loses speed very rapidly (as if braking gently) due to the car remaining in a lower gear (I guess it was the second gear). So in a stop and go traffic, it was like a "push-pull" effect. I changed to eco-pro and the car became very smooth (it likely shifted to 3rd gear), and the car no longer was decelerating at a rapid pace when letting go of the throttle. However, in general (not in stop and go traffic), the comfort mode is awesome fun for the same reasons I will even dare to say that in many scenarios I actually prefer the comfort mode to the sport mode for decently rapid acceleration since in comfort mode it is easy to utilize the complete torque (about 340 lbft ) without the engine reaching near red line. In sport mode, I sometimes tend to "hold-back" on the pedal in order to avoid creating a scene !! |

I have to agree with the OP - it's just a better car all around for having the MPPK installed. I use Sport/DS modes when carving the back roads, but out on the highway it's best in comfort mode, particularly on long trips. Gotta love that gas mileage, too, although the MPPK didn't seem to affect it - which is another amazing factor.

100,000 wow. Well at least you can take it to the autobahn. Here the one time a couple of years ago when I had an Infiniti G37, I ran it to +130mph. Guess what, that's the time the cops caught me, they let me go with a warning though. So you guys pay more but you use a lot more of the cars potential. You can have more fun with it. Here we pay less but we rarely ever see the cars limits.

the foot tends to be a bit on the heavier side
If there was a way(some mode) to avoid going above 4000 rpm, I would for daily driving just set that mode and just hold the pedal to the floor permanently. Actually that's the reason I'm trying to play around with the "manual" mode these day to see if I can learn to shift up just around 4000 rpm while flooring the pedal. |
