Boost Gauge question.

Basically im just wondering what the simplest way to install a boost gauge in my 335i is. I didnt see any diy.
Which is the simplest to install?
I was just like to be aware of what im at so I can monitor if I have any issues.
Thanks.

JB4 gauge hijacking is the best way. Integrated code reading too.

I find universal boost gauges to look chavvy.. There is one which sits in the heater vent and looks smart - not sure on the brand though!!

JB4 will show in your instrument panel if you set it to. The digital vent gauge from P3cars looks pretty nice. Not sure how big of a PITA the install would be on it.

x2 ECS has a DIY install video on their site for it. Plugs right into your OBDII with a cord that comes through where the door and side of your dash meet and you're set with several different measurable parameters. I'm still considering one for me.

Can do 0-60, boost levels, etc. basically anything the onboard CPU is monitoring becomes visible.

So once i throw the JB4 in it has a menu that gives me boost levels?

Also, i do agree. The universal ones look bad. I do like that vent one though.

Id love to figure out a way to find one I can retrofit into the ashtray that I can just hide by shutting it.
I feel like that would be awesome.

There are settings for the JB4 that will turn your fuel and temp gauges into either a boost gauge, intake air temp gauge, or air/fuel mixture gauge. I have mine set on stealth mode, which only takes over the gauges when I'm over 50% throttle. The fuel gauge jumps from whatever its reading on fuel left to whatever PSI i'm running and tracks as boost climbs and falls. Empty=0 psi, Full=20psi, 1/2 tank=10psi. Right now I'm fairly consistently at 15 or 16

There is that.

I personally use the JB4, I've got boost on one side, and meth flow on the other. Works really well.

But if you don't want to tune the car, getting a jb4 just to hijack gauges is a little silly imo.

Well BMW just threw me the new Turbos under the warranty so I'm definitely ready to throw the jb4 in either way.

The JB4 can read out the boost pressure in dash from the sensor on the charge pipe pre-throttle body, however keep in mind this is not entirely accurate all the time, as throttle closures and shift spikes, etc will not show true boost pressure full time, as post throttle body boost gauges would.

Find a used P3 cars gauge and take it apart. I have mine mounted in the ashtray but cannot post a pic with my iPad. I have a pic in my garage if you want to take a look.

Best way is a BT OBDII dongle and an old Android device.
I'm running Torque and have a Nexus 7 mounted in my car. I have a bluetooth OBD II dongle.

Side benefit is that I get GPS, etc.

Anyone with an 07 have the P3 gauge? I looked into it but I guess 07 models have limited functionality.

NOTE: 2007 Model Year only supports Boost/Vac, Batt Voltage, and Analog inputs and has a different harness for power connections.
