Newbie help
I have had a go at coding for the first time and was not successful so would like a little help.
After reading about coding and looking at the cheat sheets I thought I would like give it a try so I found the E-Sys download and installed it as per the coding sticky. I am using E-Sys 3.18.4 with PSdZ files 48.3. My F30 is a UK spec 320d Sport, with a July 12 build date. For my first attempt I picked on having a go at setting my door handle LED's to come on when reversing (backing up) and hit on an error message right at the end of the Coding FDL process. I was following the 'E-Sys Getting Started Coding Part 1' pdf from the sticky thread. This is the error message: Transaktions-Report: Aktion: FDL Codieren FEM_BODY [40] cdDeploy ProcessedWithError cafd_00000794-004_124_042 Not Executable I also tried to set the digital speed display and ended up with a similar error message so I gave up at this point. Transaktions-Report: Aktion: FDL Codieren BKOMBI [60] cdDeploy ProcessedWithError cafd_00000760-006_000_019 Not Executable After the digital speed code attempt I had to reset the time and date and the mpg/ave speed display had reset also. What am I doing wrong? |

For the F30, the 48.3 psdzdata requires a new token as the Code Away one that comes with 3.18.4 is not valid with that version or newer.
If your car is old enough, grab a copy of psdzata 48.2 and see if you can code with that as the Code Away token will work on that dataset. If you get an error like CAFD not found/missing, then your car has newer software on it and you will have to go to 48.3, or even later (49.4 is out now). To use 48.3 or newer, you will need E-Sys 3.22.5, the newer psdzdata, and you will need to purchase a token. Send a PM to shawnsheridan and ask nicely for instructions and links. |

Sorry, I don't have the links. shawn is the master of the links here for getting psdzdata. Send him a PM requesting the 48.2 links and he's very good about responding.

If you need any UK specific help you can obviously ask over in the UK section as well as here. I've just gone through the coding initiation and it is a little confusing to start with and then the penny drops.

I thought I would post in the coding section as you never know it might be useful for another member in the future and I thought the audience might be larger. If I was looking for specific UK help I will be asking in the UK section. Rich it was the post's between yourself and RichardM that started me looking at trying coding in the first place. |
