I bought a short black cable for my iPod classic for a few quid but no, it comes with nothing. Of course if you have an IPhone 5 you need to fork out for the more expensive new cable, but you should have sufficient spec you don't need to worry about a y cable.

P.S. hope the handover goes well, enjoy your new motor!

It's worth trying it with a standard iPhone cable to see if it works, if not a Y-Cable from amazon is less than a tenner (just check it's compatible with F30 / F31)

I'd recommend just getting a mini usb flash drive and then transferring your itunes folder to that - much more discreet and the iDrive sorts the music itself anyway, so you'll notice no difference in menu options between the iPhone or flash drive.

Thanks yes cannot wait. So if I move my iTunes folder onto flash drive I will be able to see and play my playlists? Or will it just be albums I can play?

The standard cable is all you need, but it needs to be an authentic iphone cable. You do not need any other cable.

You don't need the Y cable with the Pro Nav. I've also gone the USB stick route as I don't always connect the phone via the cable where the USB stick is left always connected.

You can also create playlists on the USB stick.

Correct, you cannot use itunes playlists on a USB stick; you create your own playlist from your music.
